‘Blue Bloods’ Season 11 is filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic
The new episodes for season 11 is being filmed during the pandemic. But the characters aren’t wearing masks in scenes for a reason.
“On the other hand, on a purely practical level I don’t want to watch masked actors, particularly,” Kevin Wade, who is the showrunner of Blue Bloods, told Deadline. “Now, I’ve seen other shows that are doing it and it feels, on the one hand, true and on another hand, anachronistic. The decision we’ve made was not to play the show that way.”
Season 11 started with Eddie (Vanessa Ray) helping a woman find the body of her loved one who died from COVID-19. Wade explained why the season still won’t focus on it.
“So, we thought we need to acknowledge that, address is, but it was really considering do people tune into this show to see a reflection of the daily news? Or do they tune into it be entertained and possibly look for a reflection but not a documentary?” he said.

The characters might not be wearing masks in season 11. But the actors did wear masks to film the new season.
Ramirez posted a picture on Instagram of her being with Wahlberg. They are wearing matching cheetah printed masks. She captioned it with, “Tomorrow night! Our matching masks come off for the season 11 premiere of Blue Bloods! So #grateful to be back with my partner in solving crime! @bluebloods_cbs @cbstv.” Wahlberg commented on it with a heart emoji.
Fans commented on the picture with their excitement for the new season. Their characters have grown closer in the new episodes.
Danny and Baez kicked off the season with dinner
Baez is usually never seen at family dinner. Although she was a guest at Eddie and Jamie’s (Will Estes) wedding.
That changed in the episode, “Triumph Over Trauma”. Baez got hurt on the job which led to a heated discussion with Danny. He felt bad and in the end, he invited her to family dinner.
It looks like Baez hit it off with the Reagans. She had fun watching them tease Danny, and she said she normally doesn’t eat with family.
Baez has yet to return for dinner but many fans hoped this means her relationship with Danny could lead to something more. Fans will have to keep watching to see if they’ll get their wish.
