‘Blue Bloods’: What Does the Family Secret Mean for the Series?
You’re likely still surprised after watching Blue Bloods Season 10, Episode 19. And if you’re like most viewers, you have a ton of questions after seeing the latest development. There’s no doubt there will be significant changes to the family dynamics. Here are four questions we have about what a new family member means for the series.
1. Will Joseph Hill be a regular at Reagan family dinners?
Now that the cat is out of the bag about Joe Reagan’s long-lost son, we’re wondering if dinners will be affected. Will there be an additional place setting each week? If so, it would be interesting to get another opinion at the Reagan family dinner table. Most of the time, opinions are shared by Erin and Danny, with Frank and Henry chiming in now and then. A new voice would be refreshing in these scenes. The last new family member to join the bunch was Eddie, so it might be time for a change.
2. How will Nicky Reagan react?
All the Reagan family members met Joseph Hill except for Erin’s daughter, Nicky Reagan and her cousin Jack. How will Nicky feel about meeting him? Even though Nicky tends to go against the grain, we think she will be thrilled to learn there’s another member of the Reagan family. However, we also wonder if she will clash with him during family dinners when tough topics come up.
3. Will Joseph Hill’s mother be trouble?
Joseph wasn’t the only person invited to Sunday dinner at the Reagan’s house. His mother, Paula Hill (Bonnie Somerville), was also invited to have dinner with the family. Unfortunately, Paula decided not to attend the dinner after Frank didn’t approve her request to have Joseph transferred to a safer department. The reason she wanted Joseph transferred is because of what happened to his father, Joe. He was killed on the job, so Paula fears her son will meet a similar fate.
Paula was angry after Frank didn’t put her request through. She began her meeting with Frank hopeful, but left upset. Frank said he was trying to think about what was best for Joseph, but Paula didn’t agree. She told Frank not to contact her or Joseph until he made the decision to transfer him to a less active unit. Paula ended their conversation by saying,” I’m sorry [Joseph] ever found out about you.” She could be trouble later on. We doubt Paula is happy about him meeting the Reagans.
4. Does Joseph Hill’s arrival mean ‘Blue Bloods’ will continue for many seasons to come?
Another question we have is if Joseph’s arrival means the series will continue for a longer period of time. Now that he’s in the mix, there are endless possibilities for new story lines. Perhaps there could be episodes with Jamie and Danny mentoring Joseph. There could also be episodes where we see what a day in the life of Joseph is like. We’d also like to see how Joseph responds to hot topics during family dinner.
