‘Blue Bloods’: What Is Will Estes and Vanessa Ray’s Relationship like in Real Life?
Fans have been wanting Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) to get together for years. That’s because their chemistry was great as partners. It might make you wonder what is Estes and Ray’s relationship like in real life? Here is everything you need to know.
Will Estes and Vanessa Ray have more of a brother and sister relationship
The actors played cop partners for years before their characters became romantic. So it was a bit of an adjustment for them when Eddie and Jamie became something more. Ray talked about what went through her mind when they had to kiss.
“Kissing Will Estes, he’s the dreamiest dreamboat, so that’s not very hard, but it is funny because we’re such good friends,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “When I first read it, it was like, ‘Oh no, I have to kiss my brother, so weird,’ because we’re so close. We were like, ‘Oh, ok, we have to figure this out.'”
That would make sense given Ray is married to Landon Beard, who is a musician. They have been married since 2015. Estes and Ray also claimed that they didn’t see their character heading toward marriage in the beginning.
They didn’t notice their character’s chemistry until fans did
Fans really fell in love with Jamie and Eddie before the characters fell in love. The actors revealed how fans affected the story line.
“Yes, I do think the fans did sort of play a part in the getting together of Jamie and Eddie because I think they called it before we noticed it,” Ray told Talk of the Town. “We were just playing partners and they saw the chemistry and were kind of after a while just like ‘Enough already get together! You love each other.'”
They’re probably not hanging out much off the set
The cast of Blue Bloods definitely feel like a family when watching them, but they aren’t hanging out much off the set. Estes talked about this in an interview with Taylor magazine.
“People ask if we hang out outside of work and we’re always like, ‘Not really but we spend so much time at work together and we get along so well!'” Estes said. “We are great friends. When Saturday comes around we’re not usually calling each other to hang out but we do get along great, we are like a family.”
He then continued, “Many of the cast and crew spend more time with each other than they do with their real families. It’s a very full-time job you know, 99.99% we all get along. It’s been a pleasure.”
He did list that one of his favorite parts of the job is working with Ray. “I have a lot of fun with Vanessa Ray who plays my partner on the show and I love every scene I get with Tom, Donnie and Bridget as well.”
The actors seem to be really great coworkers in real life, which made their switch to playing lovers kind of awkward at first. Now fans got what they wanted with the characters being together, and they will get to see a wedding.
