‘Blue Bloods’: Who Played Jamie’s First Fiancée, Sydney?
Before Blue Bloods spouses Jamie and Eddie were engaged and then married, there was another woman in Jamie’s life. The police sergeant almost married a woman named Sydney Davenport. Here’s what Showbiz Cheat Sheet knows about the actress who played Eddie’s fiancée and why the TV couple didn’t last.
What happened between Jamie and his first fiancée, Sydney?
Blue Bloods Season 1, Episode 1, opens with Jamie Reagan’s graduation from the police academy. A few moments after the graduation, we meet Sydney. It’s clear almost right away something isn’t right between Jamie and Sydney. They’re engaged, yet they haven’t set a date for their wedding. “We’d have another lawyer in the family if these two would set a date,” says Danny’s wife, Linda. “What? And spoil all the fun?” responds Sydney. We find out later a wedding date was never set because Sydney was having doubts about the relationship. We can also see how jealous Sydney gets when one of Jamie’s colleagues, officer Romano, stops by to congratulate him. Sydney doesn’t seem to trust Jamie.
A big stressor for Sydney is the fear Jamie could be hurt or killed in the line of duty. She also wants to focus more on her law career, so she begins to drift away from Jamie. Unfortunately (well, fortunately for Eddie), things don’t work out and Sydney breaks up with Jamie.
