The Reagans made law enforcement a family business on Blue Bloods. However, all of the family members have very different jobs and goals.

It was recently revealed that Henry (Len Cariou) thinks Jamie (Will Estes) could be police commissioner one day like Frank (Tom Selleck.) Find out why the grandfather doesn’t see Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) filling the role and more.

Jamie was recently promoted on ‘Blue Bloods’

Jamie is no longer patrolling the streets with Eddie. That’s because he is now sergeant. The actor talked about this big change with his character.

“Now, he’s a veteran who just made sergeant,” Estes told Newsweek. “I’m stepping into my training sergeant’s shoes, and I’m now in charge of other police officers. I’m one step up the ladder rung and in charge of other police officers and playing a boss.”

Estes also talked about the dynamic between his character and Eddie being different after the promotion. “Vanessa [Ray] and I are discovering how to play people who are in a relationship and not partners because we want to be in a relationship,” he said.

Danny has thought about retiring

While Jamie is moving forward in his career, Danny seems to be thinking about slowing down. That makes sense given he’s older and is now the only parent raising his sons.

The episode, “Another Look” showed Danny reconnecting with his friend, Mike Gee (Eric B.) Mike decided to return to being a detective after retiring. Danny told him, “Not for nothin’ but I could see myself putting in my papers sometime soon.”

Wahlberg talked to Showbiz Cheat Sheet about the reason behind his character considering retirement. “Danny’s definitely more in touch with his mortality than he used to be, but I don’t think he’s retiring anytime soon,” he said.

It doesn’t look like Danny has aspirations beyond the job he’s doing now. But another Reagan family member seems to have high expectations for Jamie.

The grandfather recently had an important talk with Jamie in the episode, “Vested Interests.” That’s because someone stole Jamie’s police vest and he was being investigated. Jamie reacted by grilling multiple officers in his own precinct, which was getting him on other people’s bad side.

Henry told him, “I hear you’ve been stepping on toes like your brother.” Jamie responded saying he didn’t see the problem with that given Danny gets results.

“I look at him and I see a great detective. I look at you and I see a future PC because of your strengths. Your heart, your smarts , the patience of a saint,” Henry explained. He then added, “More genes you got from me. So get back to doing what you’re good at.”

Fans seem to agree. “Henry, to Jamie: “I look at you, and I see a future PC.” FINALLY! They FINALLY said it! #BlueBloods,” one fan tweeted. “Jamie would be a perfect PC!! Hope he goes for it!! #BlueBloods,” another tweeted.

Jamie certainly is the one with a cooler head on his shoulders. He also used to study law before deciding to be an officer. This all could be foreshadowing that he will follow his father and grandfather’s footsteps.
