Eddie and Jamie started off as partners on the job. He then proposed to Eddie, got a promotion, and they got married. In real life, the actors are just friends which actually made their first kiss awkward.

“Kissing Will Estes, he’s the dreamiest dreamboat, so that’s not very hard, but it is funny because we’re such good friends,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “When I first read it, it was like, ‘Oh no, I have to kiss my brother, so weird,’ because we’re so close. We were like, ‘Oh, ok, we have to figure this out.’”

One thing that helped the actors was the fact they weren’t in their uniforms for the big moment. “There’s a different physicality that comes along with not wearing the uniform and I think that definitely informs their chemistry,” Ray explained.

Fans were thrilled over the kiss and the turn for the characters. When Ray was originally brought onto the show it wasn’t to be Jamie’s love interest.

However, fans thought there was chemistry between the characters and pushed for them to become a couple. Ray claimed things started on an awkward foot with Estes.

The actors talked about the process they went through to get their roles on Blue Bloods with CBS. Estes said he had to audition multiple times before getting the part of Jamie.

“I auditioned for what felt like 11 times, but it was actually just four,” he said. “I remember the script was my favorite thing I’d read all year. I don’t think I ever told anyone this, but I was totally broke. After reading with Leonard [Goldberg, Blue Bloods’ executive producer], I remember he said, ‘I believed you.’ That was an endearing vote of confidence.”

Ray later joined the cast in season 4. She said Estes wasn’t fully onboard with her right away.

“I think you were skeptical of me,” she said to Estes. “I don’t think that!” he said. Ray still stuck to her story that he wasn’t sure of her.

“This story I’m positive about. I remember you were in full costume. And I think you were like, ‘Who is this girl? Who is this blond girl?'” she said. Estes added, “I remember always liking you.”

The actors might not agree about the start of their work relationship. But the good news is they’re on good terms after years of working together. Fans were also won over by Ray and now they are the fandom’s favorite couple.
