Jay-Z fans may already know that the legendary rapper made history when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. What they probably don’t know is that his 9-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, helped induct him.

Here are some of the recently released details of Jay-Z’s induction ceremony and how Blue Ivy supported her father at the event.

Jay-Z made history when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

In October 2021, Jay-Z made history as the first living solo rapper to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The “Otis” rapper was inducted alongside iconic artists like Carole King and Tina Turner.

Former President Barack Obama introduced Jay-Z at the induction ceremony. In his acceptance speech, the rapper admitted he didn’t think hip-hop artists would ever receive the prestigious honor.

“Thank you, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for this incredible honor,” the “Young Forever” rapper said. “You know, growing up, we didn’t think we could be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We were told that hip-hop was a fad.”

He added that he hopes his journey inspires future artists. “Hopefully, I’m informing the next generation that anything is possible.”

Although Jay-Z is the first living solo rapper to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he is not the first emcee to receive the honor. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007, and Jay-Z introduced them at their ceremony. Public Enemy was inducted in 2013, and N.W.A. was given the prestigious honor in 2016. And in 2020, The Notorious B.I.G. became the first solo rapper to join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

A pre-recorded video was released showing several artists, including Beyoncé, Jay-Z’s wife of over a decade, paying homage to the “Empire State of Mind” rapper.

The tribute video included stars like Dr. Dre, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Kevin Hart, John Legend, Halle Berry, Usher, Rihanna, Chris Martin, Pharrell Williams, Chris Rock, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alicia Keys, LeBron James, Ed Sheeran, Lenny Kravitz, and more.

Blue Ivy appeared at the end of the video, adorably giggling as she read the words, “Congrats, S. Carter, ghostwriter/You paid the right price, so we just make your hits tighter.” Jay-Z’s daughter laughed as she finished the censored line from her father’s 1998 song “Ride or Die.”

Blue Ivy is a record-breaker like her father

Jay-Z and Beyoncé have three children together: 9-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and 3-year-old twins, a daughter named Rumi, and a son named Sir.

Days after his first daughter was born, Jay-Z released the track “Glory.” The song is dedicated to Blue Ivy and details the couple’s pregnancy issues. Blue’s cries were included at the end of the track, and she was officially credited as “B.I.C.” She became the youngest person ever to appear on a Billboard chart when “Glory” hit number 74 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
