‘BMF’: La La Anthony Just Gave Fans Some Insight Into Her Expanded Role for Season 2
Starz‘s BMF is based on the true-life story of the infamous Flenory brothers. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.) and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi) began selling drugs as teens in Detroit. However, their business would eventually explode making them two of the biggest drug dealers in the country. The series explores both their business and their personal lives. Now, Power alum La La Anthony is set to return to season 2 in a major way.
Anthony just hinted at her expanded role for the season.
‘BMF’ Season 2 is about elevation
The second season of BMF recently began filming down in Atlanta and it’s going to be even more explosive than season 1. In the first season, the Flenory brothers defied their parents’ wishes, expanding their drug business while making new enemies. However, at the end of season 1, Terry walked away from Demetrius for a simpler life outside of the drug game.
Now, Meech is going to have to press forward without his younger brother, who tends to be the more logical of the pair.
“Well, I can’t spoil it, but I can tell you, [it’s about] elevation,” Lil Meech told PopSugar. “Big Meech and his mind, even at 15, 16 [years old], he thought like a grown man. He always wanted to take over the world. And to a regular person, it [might] sound crazy, but he did everything he said he was going to do. “I can tell you that [Big Meech] has to elevate his mind. Everything about him is elevating, so he’s becoming bigger, wealthier, [and] wiser.”
La La Anthony hinted that most of her scenes will be with Da’Vinchi
Though we saw a glimpse of Markisha in the BMF pilot, she’s going to have a much bigger presence in the second season of the Detroit set drama. According to Deadline, “Markisha is the smart, sophisticated and street-savvy wife of a powerful Detroit dealer. Despite the risk, Terry begins to pursue her relentlessly and they develop a friendship.”
While the plot points in season 2 have remained mostly under wraps Anthony has given fans a small hint about what they can expect. “We had a cast dinner, which was really nice,” she told PopSugar. “Our showrunner Randy Huggins wanted to bring the cast together. It’s always good to start building that camaraderie when you’re going to be around people for five or six months of your life. I always think those bonds translate through the characters on TV.”
Anthony also hinted that she and Da’Vinchi have formed a close bond because of their characters. “Most of our scenes are together, so sometimes we do have to talk outside of work and go over our scenes like, “Hey, what are you thinking? Did you read it?” she said.
When will ‘BMF’ Season 2 debut on Starz?
There is no word yet on when the second season of BMF will debut. However, since executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has revealed that he won’t have a show premiere on Starz for six months, we’re going to guess that the new season won’t debut until early 2023. After all, the season only just began filming recently and once all of the episodes are shot, they still need to move through post-production before they can air.
Still, Lil Meech says fans are in for a wild ride. “A lot of crazy things happen,” he told PopSugar. “We’re really just going to blow the audience away.” He went on to explain that this season would center on Meech and his desire to expand the business.
We somehow think that Terry’s connection with Markisha will lead him back into the drug game.
