Starz has released the trailer from their new drama series BMF. From executive producers Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Tasha Smith, and Randy Huggins, the series is set to be explosive. Though the Power Universe continues to swirl around him, BMF has been a passion project for 50 Cent for some time.

A period piece that explores two polarizing figures amid a tumultuous time in American history, BMFs series premiere will set it off.

What is Starz’s ‘BMF’ about?

50 Cent’s new show BMF is based on the real-life story of the Flenory brothers. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.) and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi) built their BMF (Black Mafia Family) at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic in Detroit in the 1980s.

Their massive drug empire would withstand the test of time after they launched BMF Entertainment. Their company was a front for a money-laundering scheme amid the rise of hip-hop. The brothers worked as promoters for several major hip-hop artists.

Starz has called the show, “a story about love, kinship, and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.”

Here’s what to expect from the ‘BMF’ series premiere

The official Starz description for the BMF pilot which has been titled “See It… Touch It… Obtain It” via Rotten Tomatoes reads, “Meech avoids a street war by moving his crew, The 50 Boyz, to a new location; Meech and his brother Terry cook up a more potent batch of drugs that creates enough demand to help their family overcome the economic crisis.”

The trailer for the new show opens in the 1980s, and we have a present-day Big Meech narrating their beginnings. He says that growing up, he and Terry wanted to be like Young Boys Incorporated since those guys had money, women, clothes, and nice cars. More than anything Meech says they wanted respect.

In the next clip, we see a young Meech and Terry getting into Meech’s mentor’s (portrayed by Wood Harris) car. Big Meech narrates that this is the moment that changed everything for them. The trailer quickly zips through Meech and Terry rising through the ranks of their organization, eventually branching out on their own to create BMF.

However, their success was not without its snags, Meech makes it clear that death, prision and being robbed was always a risk. Moreover, their parents were also horrified by their illegal activities.
