Believe it or not, even celebrity health experts like Bob Harper find it tough to find the motivation to workout from home.

The pandemic closed gyms and fitness centers throughout the country, leaving gym rats with the only option of working out at home. While some people could easily adapt to at-home workouts, others still need that motivation of going to the gym to get off the couch and break a sweat.

“I never worked out at home,” Harper admitted to Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “I like to go to the gym. And I like being around my friends. I like that kind of group fitness mentality. And then when March came around last year, the lockdown happened. I mean, that was taken away. And so I really had to reassess the way that I worked out.”

Not working out wasn’t an option for Bob Harper

While some people let their fitness routine fall to the wayside, Harper said not working out simply wasn’t an option for him. “I had to kind of open my brain up to other options,” he said. “And it was really difficult because like I said I was never one to workout at home.”

“And now I workout at home all the time,” Harper continued. He said after he finished his interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet he planned to exercise at home. Harper recently partnered with online fitness platform NEOU to create a Weight Loss Starter Pack, which takes the guesswork out of navigating extensive online fitness apps.

“I’ve always found that being in the business for as long as I have, you want to kind of like spice things up,” he shared. “You want to be able to try something new, something different. And now that we are living in this world of COVID and having to do more workouts at home. I mean, what’s your other option? Not work out? Like, that’s like that’s what I would say to people.

“I get you want to be able to go to the gym, but a lot of places you can’t,” Harper said. “So is your only other option going to be not to workout? Because that’s not even an option for me.”

Harper knows that while online fitness platforms offer an endless wealth of workout options, deciding on a workout can be daunting. “That’s why one thing that I did with NEOU is I started something called a Weight Loss Starter Pack,” he said. “I just went through a lot of the library and I just found these workouts that didn’t require any equipment.”

“They were fun,” he continued. “Because that’s another thing, especially now more than ever, like, yeah, I want my workouts to be effective, but like, I want to feel good. I want to put a smile on my face. That’s why I did some dance workouts and regular boot camp, things like a sculpting. It’s just trying to get people up and moving and kind of get acquainted with doing work in the privacy of your own home.”

“I did all the heavy lifting,” he said. “I went through the library and I went, OK, there’s a good workout. There’s a good workout. So, literally, a new person can just go on, look at the starter pack and say, ‘OK, let me try this.’ Let me try a boot camp class and see how I feel. It’s a good way to just get your feet in the water.”
