‘Bob Hearts Abishola’: Tori Danner Starred With 1 ‘Loki’ Cast and Crew Member in a Short Drama
In promotional videos released by CBS, Bob Hearts Abishola’s Kemi (Gina Yashere) and Abishola (Folake Olowofoyeku) discuss how to handle Morenike (Tori Danner) confessing something important. However, Danner starred as a similar character in a short drama directed by X Hill from Marvel’s Loki cast & crew.
Morenike came out to Kemi and Abishola in ‘Bob Hearts Abishola’
Yashere’s Kemi has almost gotten tangled up in drama on the romantic comedy sitcom. Most recently, Kemi found herself feuding over her love interest Tony Tambi’s Chukwuemeka.
In Bob Hearts Abishola Season 3, Episode 6, “The Devil’s Throuple,” Chukwuemeka’s mother (Kimberly Scott) did not approve of her son dating Kemi and instead wanted him to marry Tori Danner’s Morenike.
Of course, Kemi did not take things lying down. She went out of her way to spread hilariously over-the-top lies about him online and tried making him jealous. However, Kemi caught Morenike caught in the crossfire of her emotions.
When Bob Hearts Abishola Season 3, Episode 7 trailers and sneak peeks released, Kemi and Abishola discussed Morenike in Bob’s (Billy Gardell) apartment. Specifically, they discussed her telling them that she was gay.
While this stands as a new development for the character, the actor played a gay woman stuck in an unhealthy relationship in one of her first acting roles.
Tori Danner starred in ‘Blocked’ with ‘Loki’ costume coordinator X Hill
Blocked was a short film released in 2018. While the runtime only lasted six minutes, the names tied to the short had some impressive connections.
Bob Hearts Abishola’s Tori Danner plays the lead role as a woman trying to escape an abusive relationship. Co-star Tyree Marshall starred in a short based on the Blade Runner comics.
However, Blocked writer, director, and actor X Hill worked on some even bigger titles, though not in the usual way. Instead of actor or director, Hill is most known for her costume work.
She worked on Freeform’s Grown-Ish, How to Get Away with Murder, and Marvel’s Loki most prominently. Hill joined the Loki cast & crew, where she worked as costume coordinator on every episode of Loki Season 1.
In Hill’s short, Danner plays a gay woman stuck in a relationship and confiding in friends for help to get out. This might sound very familiar to Bob Hearts Abishola fans.
Morenike faces similar circumstances in ‘Bob Hearts Abishola’ Season 3 to Tori Danner’s first acting role
While Morenike does not face an abusive relationship in Bob Hearts Abishola Season 3, she finds herself stuck nonetheless. However, the episode focused more on Abishola and Kemi’s response.
“Abishola and Kemi are conflicted as to how to handle Morenike after she confides her deepest secret to them. Also, when Bob gets credit for Christina’s idea for a Twitter marketing campaign, she considers leaving MaxDot,” the Futon Critic reports the official synopsis.
Bob, Dottie (Christine Ebersole), and Christina (Maribeth Monroe) dealt with their own issues.
However, Morenike has appeared more and more throughout the series. Fans can be sure that her story has not ended yet.
