Bob Saget was found dead at a Ritz-Carlton hotel

At the time of Saget’s death, he was on his “I Don’t Do Negative” comedy tour. The night before, he had performed at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall in Jacksonville, Florida.

However, on Jan. 9, Saget was found dead at a Ritz-Carlton in Orlando. The Orange County Sheriff’s office tweeted the news: “Earlier today, deputies were called to the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes for a call about an unresponsive man in a hotel room. The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case.”

Saget’s cause of death is currently unknown.

According to Page Six, Saget’s family, which includes wife Kelly Rizzo and three adult children, released a statement saying they are “devastated” by his death.

“He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter,” the statement said. “Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”

Saget had stayed for two nights at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando before his death, and some people at the hotel have memories of him.

A hotel staff member told People that Saget was “low-key, unassuming guest who was more than happy to take selfies with whoever asked in the lobby.”

The insider added, “He checked in on Friday morning and used his real name. Everyone recognized him immediately, but he didn’t make any fanfare about it. A couple of girls asked for a selfie and he even held the camera and joked that his arms were longer because he was part orangutan. He was really gracious. No entourage, no entitlement, no attitude.”

According to the source, the hotel is no stranger to famous faces, though “a lot of them are just nightmares.” Saget, however, seemed to be pleasant to deal with.

“He carried his own bags, seemed really energetic and honestly seemed really healthy and happy,” the insider said before adding, “He’s such a nice guy, a good guest and you felt like you knew him. It’s really a sad day.”

I don’t know what happens when we die, but if Betty says you get to be with the love of your life, then I happily defer to Betty on this.”
