‘Bob’s Burgers’: Beloved Animated Comedy Finally Gets Movie Release Window
After a rocky initial start, Bob’s Burgers has morphed into a hit animated comedy series. The sitcom is about to begin season 12, with season 13 coming in 2022. Since the beginning, it has been up for numerous awards, including seven Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
Back in 2017, it was announced that the show’s feature film would be released in 2020. However, several delays due to the pandemic continually pushed the date back. Now, it looks like the Belcher family will finally get their time on the big screen.
‘Bob’s Burgers: The Movie’ was delayed because of the pandemic
In 2017, 20th Century Fox announced that a Bob’s Burgers film was in the works. Fox Family, a newly created division of Fox, is overseeing the movie’s creation. Then, in 2018, it was announced that the studio accepted the script.
However, when the pandemic broke out, filming for the movie had to be delayed. The crew and cast began working remotely so that they could deliver the highly anticipated feature to fans. The biggest question though was where to release it.
“We talked about [streaming] as it pertains to the movie, and we decided we really want the movie to come out in theaters because Bob’s is already on TV,” series creator Loren Bouchard told Entertainment Weekly. “Of course, we want everyone to be able to safely see it in movie theaters. We don’t want anyone to put themselves at risk. But assuming there’s a point at which everyone can go back to theaters safely, we’re excited about Bob’s the movie being seen in the theater, in the dark with other people, because that’s something we’ve never been able to do before. That’s the main course that we’re delivering to people, in this case.”
There is finally a release date for ‘Bob’s Burgers: The Movie’
After several years and a lot of flipping around, Fox has finally announced a release date, and fans cannot be more excited. The film is going to have its theatrical debut during Memorial Day Weekend 2022. So, anticipate the film hitting theaters between May 27-30.
What will the movie be about?
We don’t know much about the details of the film yet, but a few things have come out. Much like the television series, the movie will see the Belcher family continue their wacky adventures.
“We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show,” the Home Movies writer said in a statement reported by Deadline. “We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever so slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s – but most of all, it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!”
Bouchard also said that the movie will be very musical and that Louise will reunite with her beloved nightlight, Kuchi Kopi, for another trip in her dreams.
