‘Bosch’ Canceled By Amazon Prime. When Will Season 6 Premiere?
Harry Bosch is getting ready to close his last case. Amazon has announced that Bosch will come to an end with season 7. But fans of the noir-ish detective series won’t have to say goodbye just yet. The last episodes of the show — Amazon’s longest-running original series — likely won’t air until 2021.
‘Bosch’ creator Michael Connelly said the end of the show is ‘bittersweet’
Bosch, which premiered in 2014, is based on a series of novels by Michael Connelly that focus on Hieronymous “Harry” Bosch, an LAPD detective. In a statement, Connelly said that he was “proud of what we have accomplished with Bosch and look forward to completing the story in season seven.”
“It’s bittersweet but all good things come to an end, and I am happy that we will be able to go out the way we want to,” he added, before going on to praise Titus Welliver, who plays Bosch in the series.
“There could not have been a better actor to play this role or a better team player to build this show around,” Connelly said. “He’ll be Harry Bosch for the ages.”
The show also stars Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, Lance Reddick, and Madison Lintz.
‘Bosch’ Season 6 should premiere later this year
Bosch might be coming to an end, but fans still have a lot to look forward to. Season 6 should be coming to Amazon Prime later in 2020, but no release date has yet been announced. Bosch Season 5 premiered in April 2019.
The upcoming season will be based on the books The Overlook and Dark Sacred Night, according to Connelly’s website. In the first of those novels, Bosch is called to investigate a murder that could have serious consequences for national security. In the second, Bosch investigates the unsolved murder of a 15-year-old runaway girl in an attempt to bring her killer to justice.
The seventh season will draw from The Concrete Blonde and The Burning Room. Per Connelly, it “will have Harry Bosch and Jerry Edgar pursuing two separate but perilous murder investigations that will take them to the highest levels of white-collar crime and the deadly depths of the street-level drug trade.”
‘Bosch’ fans react to the news
Though Bosch has lasted longer than any other Amazon original, but fans were still disappointed to learn that it was coming to an end.
“Brilliant show,” tweeted one fan. “Smartly written, superbly acted – and one of the coolest title tracks going. Big shame, but all good things…”
“Why though?” wondered another. “Still great. Plenty of source material to go by.”
Several fans begged for a special appearance by Matthew McConaughey, who played Bosch’s half-brother Mickey Haller in the 2011 movie The Lincoln Lawyer, which is also based on a Connelly novel. The Lincoln Lawyer will be turned into an upcoming series at CBS, but the role of Haller hasn’t yet been cast.
