TL; DR:
- Bosch: Legacy has already been renewed for season 2.
- Author Michael Connelly says the new episodes will draw from his book The Crossing.
- The second season will also feature new storylines.
We haven’t yet reached the end of Bosch: Legacy’s debut season, but we’re already getting details about what season 2 will be about. Author Michael Connelly, who wrote the books on which the show is based, recently took to Twitter to share some inside information about what’s next for Harry Bosch.
Michael Connelly shares update on ‘Bosch: Legacy’ Season 2
Bosch: Legacy is a spinoff of Prime Video’s Bosch, which ended its seven-season run in July 2021. Amazon is betting that the new show will be a success. It ordered a second season of the series, which stars Titus Welliver as PI Harry Bosch, before the season 1 premiere on May 6.
Now, Connelly is letting fans know what’s in store for the upcoming season.
“We’re already hard at work in the writing room putting [season 2] together and we’ll film that later this year,” he said in a video shared on Twitter.
“We’re going to use the book called The Crossing as our main storyline,” he added. “There will also be other storylines that will be new and that you will probably not recognize yet.”
Harry Bosch takes on a difficult case in ‘The Crossing’
In The Crossing, a lawyer hires Harry to help find evidence that will clear his client’s name. The client has been accused of murdering a woman named Lexi Parks. DNA evidence links him to the crime. But his lawyer is convinced he’s innocent.
Harry has major qualms about taking a job that will see him working for the defense, not the police. But he ends up being drawn into the case despite his reservations. His investigation leads him to look inside the LAPD, and as he tries to uncover the truth, he finds there’s a target on his back.
‘The Crossing’ also features Mickey Haller
In The Crossing, the lawyer who hires Harry is his half-brother Mickey Haller. Mickey is the main character in a separate series of novels by Connelly. He’s also the focus of Netflix’s new series The Lincoln Lawyer, which stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Neve Campbell.
Haller might be a major player in the book, but fans won’t see him onscreen in Bosch: Legacy Season 2. Nor will Harry pop up in the Netflix series.
“Well, we can’t, because of the [bifurcated] rights. Lincoln Lawyer is at Netflix and Bosch is at Amazon, so they can’t cross-pollinate,” Welliver explained when TVLine asked if there was any chance he’d appear in The Lincoln Lawyer. “But this is something that we’ve all sort of struggled with, and it goes both ways. We’ve had to do the same thing on Bosch with the Haller character.”
New episodes of Bosch: Legacy stream Fridays on Amazon Freevee.
