Derrick White was selected by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2017 NBA Draft. After playing for the team for a few seasons, he was traded to the Boston Celtics where he’s been a key part of the team’s success. Now, playing for one of the league’s most-stories franchises, fans want to know more about the athlete and his life off the court.

Here’s more about White and his wife Hannah Schneider.

White and Schneider are college sweethearts

White and Schneider are both from Colorado. She was born in Boulder and attended Chaparral High School in Parker, while White attended nearby Legend High School. The two crossed paths when they were students at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs before White transferred to the University of Colorado Boulder.

After dating for several years, White popped the question in September 2020.

They tied the knot less than a year later on Aug. 28, 2021, in front of their friends, family, and several of White’s former teammates, including Lonnie Walker IV, Jakob Poeltl, Drew Eubanks, and Keldon Johnson.

Before they got hitched, Schneider worked as a receptionist at an animal hospital in Colorado Springs.

White didn’t make it to the delivery room in time when their first child was born

The same year they said “I do,” White and Schneider gave birth to their first child. They were hoping their little one would arrive when the athlete was at home in Boston, but his wife went into labor while the Celtics were on the road in Miami.

“Once I found out she was in labor, I just tried to get that first flight out,” White said (via NBA.com). “I missed one flight, which would have got me there earlier. But finally got on one and was just texting with [Hannah’s] mom the whole time while she eventually gave birth to our son.

“It was just a special feeling. I wasn’t there, but even just getting pictures and videos and all that on the plane, it was just special, and he’s already changed our life.”

They named their baby boy Hendrix James after the late Jimi Hendrix.

On Nov. 3, 2023, the pair welcomed their second son, Daxton.

White and Schneider want to be great role models for their kids

During an appearance on the View From The Rafters podcast, White explained that as new parents, they want to be the best role models for their children.

“I think being there, being present and supporting them is a big thing because that’s pretty much what [my father] was,” the point guard shared. “Him and my mom were always there, so just having that as a role model has definitely meant a lot to me.”

White added: “I just want to pass it down to the next generation, to Hendrix and Daxton. So far it’s been fun. They just keep growing bigger and bigger each day and doing different things each day.”
