Bravo’s ‘Camp Getaway’: Which Cast Members Already Knew Each and Why Was That Super Awkward?
Camp Getaway social coordinators appear to be only getting to know each other when they joined the camp — or so viewers thought.
Nile Lundgren told Showbiz Cheat Sheet he actually knew Neely Fortune prior to joining the camp roster. But the reason he knew Fortune gets a little messier. “So I did know Neely,” he revealed. “So my friend Tripp, who’s in the middle of us, he dated Neely for four months. I met her through Tripp. So I only met her a couple of times. Nothing crazy, but then all of a sudden we end up at camp together.”
Production didn’t feature the reaction when Lundgren and Fortune realized they were working at the same camp. “I was like, Neely?” Lundgren recalled. Social coordinator Sophia D’Angelo piped in, “You should have seen that reaction!”
Working with Neely Fortune was wild because things were going to get awkward
“It was surreal, crazy,” Lundgren continues. “It’s like a small world, huh?” Lundgren and Fortune’s world gets even smaller when the man in “the middle” of the two shows up for fun at camp.
Previews show Lundgren appearing both thrilled and surprised when Tripp arrives at camp. Lundgren is at dinner when suddenly his buddy makes an entrance. As the men embrace and greet each other, Fortune is seen at another table looking a little uncomfortable. “Surprise,” she says in a confessional. “Your ex is here.”
Later, Fortune and her ex steal away for some private time. They appear to be getting pretty cozy at a camp party. “The past 72 hours, I’ve wanted to kiss you,” he says to Fortune.
Meanwhile, is Lundgren on his way out?
While Fortune navigates the waters with her ex, Lundgren may have broken some major camp rules. Camp Getaway owner and director David Schreiber is seen screaming at Lundgren and others after they strip and leap into the lake at night.
“Get out!” Schreiber screams at everyone in the water. Later, Lundgren and Schreiber have a pretty serious talk. Is Lundgren now on the chopping block? “You compromised the safety of the guests,” Schreiber says to Lundgren. “I don’t want you here.”
Is this Lundgren’s ‘second strike?’
This isn’t the first time Lundgren ended up on a camp director’s radar. He also got on senior director Claire Sorrels’ bad side when he and Fortune made a call to present a guest’s birthday cake earlier than anticipated.
Sorrels instructed Fortune and Lundgren to present the cake in an hour. But when the birthday boy’s brother asks if they could bring out the cake earlier, Lundgren decides to make an executive decision.
However, that move gets him in pretty hot water. Sorrels is steaming when she sees the cake is being presented. She drags Lundgren and Fortune off to the side where she lays into them. “I’m going to say this once and only once,” she tells them. “If I tell you to do something you do what I say. What time did I say to do the cake?”
Lundgren tells Sorrels to do it in an hour. “Yeah. When the band was starting after dessert was done. And did you do that?” They agree, shaking their heads “no.” Ouch.
Camp Getaway is on Monday at 10/9c on Bravo.
