Nintendo announced 2022 as the BOTW 2 release date during the E3 2021 trailer. And fans remain sure that the sequel should release this year. Mostly sure, at least. On January 7, 2022, Nintendo Life had a Breath of the Wild 2 release date poll go live. They asked, “Will Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 release on Switch in 2022?”
Fans have been desperate for news on the next adventure of Link and Princess Zelda. New sites even dug into technical patents for info on Link’s skydiving mechanics. Since Nintendo has not officially revealed much, fans do not feel certain of that 2022 date.
Nearly 10,000 fans voted in the poll, with selections for “100% absolutely definitely,” “I’d say the chance of release this year is… 80%,” “I want it so bad, but I’m not totally convinced I’ll be playing it in December,” “Unlikely, I’m calling 2023,” and “There is absolutely zero chance we’ll get BOTW 2 this year.” They also had one gag answer, but it only got a few votes.
Out of all the answers, the highest number of votes went to ‘Unconvinced,’ ‘100% certain,’ and then ‘80% Certain,’ taking the most votes by a landslide.

The Breath of the Wild 2 release date poll revealed how fans feel about Nintendo’s next big release for The Legend of Zelda series.
In the comments, fans debated Nintendo’s track record for releasing The Legend of Zelda games on time. Most fans admitted that they felt ‘mixed’ on the topic.
However, others admit that Nintendo never fails to release high-quality games. They listen to fan critiques of past Zelda games and work to fix them. Scrapped details that the original Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild cut reappeared in the Breath of the Wild 2 trailer, like the floating islands reminiscent of Skyward Sword.
Even if fans have to suffer another delay, it does little to hurt the series’ sales. The comments in the Breath of the Wild 2 release date poll still saw excited fan speculation.
Some fans aren’t sure they’ll see a 2022 release
While 2022 might have just started, fans worry that they might have to wait yet another year before they can play as Link again. Zelda theorists and game journalists have picked apart every detail of the two trailers for the Breath of the Wild sequel. Nintendo has tried to keep players updated.
However, over 1.5k voters on the Breath of the Wild 2 release date poll feel that the game will not release in 2022.
We know that Ganondorf and his Malice will plague Link and Princess Zelda in the new game. Fans got a glimpse at some new abilities Link can use.
However fun the new mechanics look, all fans want is a title and a release.
