‘Breath of the Wild 2’ Release Date Window Confirmed by Nintendo for Late 2022
With Nintendo keeping every detail about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 under wraps, including the official name, fans, and game journalists mine some of the most technical documents for clues. After examining a Nintendo financial report, the Breath of the Wild 2 release date window was re-confirmed for 2022. And fans hope no more delays push the BOTW 2 release date past the 2022 holiday season. They really want to see Link and Princess Zelda‘s next adventure.
The Nintendo financial reports line up with the rumored ‘Breath of the Wild 2’ release date window
Fans wanted more after they freed the Champions Urbosa, Mipha, Daruk, and Revali and defeated Calamity Ganon. However, five years passed without even a confirmed Breath of the Wild 2 release date.
However, rumors finally started after the 2021 Game Awards. Rumors reported the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would release in late 2022. After examining financial reports from Nintendo, Collider reported that the dates aligned with the BOTW 2 rumored release date window.
“While the company still hasn’t set a definitive date for the game’s release, the report corroborates earlier rumors that placed BOTW 2’s release at the end of this year,” Collider said.
Companies use financial reports and other internal documents to show shareholders when to expect their investments to pay off.
“By publishing quarterly reports, big companies such as Nintendo give shareholders an update of the sales numbers in the last couple of months and the most significant product releases they can expect for the future,” Collider noted.
Nintendo seems determined to honor the 2022 ‘Breath of the Wild 2’ release date window
Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for Switch to tide fans over. However, they couldn’t scratch that itch like BOTW. They teased an intense trailer with a ‘dehydrated’ Ganondorf and a darker tone.
Then, they finally released a gameplay trailer at 2021’s E3, revealing Link with longer hair and skydiving mechanics.
However, while Nintendo still did not reveal a title, ‘2022’ faded in at the end of the BOTW 2 trailer. It wasn’t an exact date, but fans would take anything over another delay.
Nintendo confirming the Breath of the Wild 2 release date window reassures some fans. However, not every fan remains so optimistic.
A poll revealed that most Nintendo fans are only about 80% sure that ‘BOTW 2’ will release on time
While fans can hope all they want to return to Hyrule Field, Zora’s Domain, the Gerudo Desert, and Death Mountain, it ultimately falls to Nintendo releasing BOTW 2 on the Switch on time.
And most fans admitted they were only 80% certain the Breath of the Wild 2 release date window in 2022 will hold in a poll from Nintendo Life.
However, the financial reports reinforced the company’s plans to release the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch on time.
Now, if only Nintendo mentioned The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Wind Waker possibly coming to Switch.
