‘Bridgerton’ has become one of Netflix’s most popular series of all time

The first Netflix series from Shondaland has already become a smashing success. Rhimes and showrunner Chris Van Dusen have brought Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton novels to life in all of their stunning glory. Set in the Regency Era, Season 1 of the series follows the eldest Bridgerton daughter, Daphne (Phoebe Dynover)’s debut on the marriage market during the summer of 1813.

However, after her older brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) sabotages her chances with any decent suitors, Daphne teams up with his oldest friend Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), who just happens to be society’s most eligible bachelor.

The show has been out for less than a month but it’s already wildly successful. Vanity Fair  reported, “It’s projected that about 63 million households will have viewed the show in the four weeks since its Christmas Day release, making it one of the streamer’s biggest original-series launches ever.”

Fans already have a ton of theories about ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2

Since Quinn has a total of eight novels in her Bridgerton series which chronicle all eight of the Bridgerton siblings fans are hoping for seven more seasons. “This being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings,” Van Dusen told Collider. “For each character, for sure.”

Fans are already convinced they know where Season 2 of the vast series will take us.

Quinn’s second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me focuses on Anthony’s quest to find love. Season 1 followed his love affair with opera singer Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett). However, in the end, their love does not withstand the pressures of society. Season 2, could shift toward some new characters who appear in the books in including the Sheffields and their two daughters, Kate and Edwina.

Daphne is styled after Audrey Hepburn

We’re very much hoping that Bridgerton will live up to its spectacular debut season, which was stuffed with intricate details. In fact, fans might have noticed that Daphne was styled to resemble the late legendary Audrey Hepburn.

“It was essential to keep Daphne very simple and natural, our English Rose,” Marc Pilcher, the show’s hair and makeup designer told Marie Claire. Pilcher looked toward Hepburn’s 1967 film War and Peace which is also set in the 19th century like Bridgerton.

“Obviously I cheated a little, including Daphne’s bangs,” he said. “Those were not common in this period, but you can find evidence of them in paintings.”
