Netflix released Bridgerton Season 2 on March 25, and many fans no doubt spent the weekend binging the series. Bridgerton made a huge splash when the first season dropped to Netflix in 2020. Season 2 already seems to be drawing many watchful eyes. The series featured dedications to Marc Pilcher and Carole Prentice at the end of episodes 1 and 8. Here’s everything you need to know about these tributes.

Who was Marc Pilcher, the man honored at the end of ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 Episode 1?

The first episode of Bridgerton Season 2 ended with Julie Andrews reading the words of Lady Whistledown, and Queen Charlotte coming to the realization that her diamond Edwina will “need to do more than simply sparkle.” Then the words “In memory of Marc Pilcher” flash across a black screen.

According to Digital Spy, Pilcher was a hair and makeup designer who worked on the set of Bridgerton. Pilcher’s work on the show contributed to Bridgerton Season 1 winning a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling. Pilcher also worked on the 2021 live-action remake of Beaty and the Beast, as well as certain episodes of Downton Abbey, according to IMDb.

Digital Spy states that Pilcher died of coronavirus in October 2021 at the age of 53. Bridgerton cast members such as Nicola Coughlan paid tribute to Pilcher. The actor posted a picture of Pilcher on Instagram. In the caption, she wrote, “So heartbroken by the loss of Marc Pilcher, the brilliant and visionary Hair and Makeup designer for Bridgerton Season One.”

The final episode of ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 was dedicated to Carole Prentice

Bridgerton Season 2 ended with a shocking fight between best friends Eloise Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. It also showed a happy ending for Anthony and Kate. After a long kiss between Anthony and Kate, the words “In memory of Carole Prentice” appear on a black screen.

According to Metro, Prentice worked as a Covid-19 coordinator for Bridgerton Season 2. Prentice died in January at the age of 61 due to post-surgery-related complications. Prentice’s son Sebastian told Metro that her sudden death “took everyone by surprise.”

Sebastian also explained to Metro what working on the set of Bridgerton Season 2 meant to his mother. He stated, “She herself was a very avid Bridgerton fan. She was so excited that she was working on Bridgerton. She made good friends and I think she impacted a lot of people in a short time.”

Sebastian posted several tributes to his mother on Instagram. In one post he wrote, “In my eyes Carole Prentice was, in the most holistic sense of the word, a warrior. She was a warrior for what she believed in, she was a warrior for fairness, she was a warrior for constant self-improvement and she was a warrior for me.”

‘Bridgerton’ jumps to #1 in the US today

Netflix’s Bridgerton quickly took the world by storm when it was first released in 2020. Bridgerton Season 2 was released to Netflix on March 25, 2022, and as of today March 28, it sits at #1 in the U.S. on Netflix. Season 2 has traded some of the steamier moments from the first season for a slow-burn romance. Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma struggle to hide their feelings for each other while Anthony courts Kate’s younger sister Edwina.
