‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 Has a Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Storyline
Netflix’s Bridgerton has been renewed for Season 2, and filming is set to be underway any day now. Now that we know the direction the sophomore season of the series will go in, an actor from the show just explained that what we can expect to see is actually pretty similar to what Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry went through as royals.
Fans can also expect things to be even sexier and more sultry than they were in Season 1.
‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 will focus on Anthony Bridgerton
Since Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton novels which follow the eight Bridgerton siblings, we can assume that Season 2 of the Netflix drama will focus on the eldest sibling, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey).
The Season 2 renewal announcement from Lady Whsitledown stated, “Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season.” According to the description from Book 2, The Viscount Who Loved Me.
Anthony Bridgerton hasn’t just decided to marry — he’s even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended’s older sister, Kate Sheffield — the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate’s the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams…
Sex Education‘s Simone Ashley has been cast as Kate.
‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 will have a Prince Harry and Meghan Markle storyline
In addition to a window into Anthony’s dating life, Bridgerton is also set to have a Prince Harry and Meghan Markle-like storyline for Daphne (Phoebe Dynover) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page). Adjoa Andoh, who portrays Lady Danbury on the show, gave fans a major hint about Season 2’s similarities to the lives of the Sussexes.
“It’s a new married life and they have the baby, so there are all the vagaries of what that is like for young people with a new baby,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I mean Harry and Meghan, what’s it like when you have a new baby? How does it affect you when [you are] a young couple with a new baby?”
She added, “Daphne and Simon, navigate being in love, very in lust still, but with a new baby in their lives. Having to navigate and negotiate that between each other, between their families, and between their wider social circles.”
When will Season 2 of ‘Bridgerton’ debut on Netflix?
When Netflix announced that Bridgerton had been renewed for Season 2, they did not set a release date. However, they did reveal that the series would begin filming in the U.K. in the Spring of 2021. Since COVID-19 restrictions are being lifted across the globe, we don’t anticipate any delays.
Therefore, Bridgerton fans can probably expect to see the return of their beloved series around Christmas Day 2021, exactly one year since the series first debuted on Netflix.
It looks like fans can expect all of those sexy scenes to continue as well. “This is only the beginning. It’s just going to get more exciting, convoluted, and sexier,” Bailey told ET.
