‘Bringing up Bates’: Zach and Whitney Bates Announce the Arrival of Son, Update Fans on His Health
Bringing Up Bates stars Zach and Whitney Bates announced the arrival of their fourth child. Zach and Whitney shared the big news on Instagram on June 11, four days after Jadon Carl Bates was born. As the day unfolded, the new parents took to Instagram to ask for prayers for their youngest son, who is now in the NICU at a Children’s hospital.

Zach and Whitney announced the arrival of their fourth child and second son on June 11. Jadon was born on June 7, shortly after 5 pm. According to the couple’s Instagram, Jadon weighed 7lbs and 6 oz. He joins his older siblings, Bradley Gilvin Bates, Kaci Lynn Bates, and Khloé Eileen Bates.
The couple’s first child, Bradley, was born in October 2014. Less than two years later, they announced the arrival of their second child, Kaci. Khloe was born in 2019. The couple’s youngest child is Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ 16th grandchild. He is not the only family member who will be born this month.
Zach and Whitney Bates update fans on Jadon’s medical situation
Shortly after announcing Jadon’s arrival, the couple took to social media to ask fans for prayers. In a lengthy Instagram post, Zach and Whitney explained that Jadon’s oxygen levels dropped shortly after birth. There was enough concern to move the newborn to a larger, specialized hospital. They explained that he was transferred to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for specialized care and was responding to treatment.
Several hours later, the couple updated fans on their little boy’s health again. Zach and Whitney said that Jadon had a difficult night and had a chest tube placed after one lung collapsed. Doctors have since stabilized the newborn, they said. Whitney and Zach did not share Jadon’s diagnosis or further detail his treatment plan. They did not share a date for his release from the hospital.
Jadon won’t be the only Bates grandchild born this year
It has been a busy year for the Bates family. Aside from announcing three relationships and, later, two engagements, they also plan to welcome several children into the family. 2021 kicked off with the birth of Maci Jo Webster. The fourth child for John and Alyssa Webster was born in February 2021. Jadon is only the first of three Bates grandchildren that are due in June 2021.
Two of Zach’s siblings are due to welcome new babies this month, too. Josie Balka and Kelton Balka are expecting their second child in the coming weeks. Josie and Kelton are parents to Willow Balka. They are expecting a baby girl. Tori Smith and Bobby Smith are also due in June. Tori and Bobby, who married in 2017, are the parents of two boys. Their third child, due in the next couple of weeks, is a girl.
