In the latest update on Britney Spears, her court-appointed lawyer, Sam Ingham III, plans to step down from the pop icon’s case. Hopefully, the news affects the “Toxic” singer positively. Ingham still has not filed her petition to request to end the conservatorship, almost two weeks after her jaw-dropping testimony in probate court on June 23. Plus, Ingham’s yearly salary, paid by Spears, is more than the singer-songwriter receives in living expenses yearly.

Who is Britney’s lawyer?

On Feb 1, 2008, Judge Reva Goetz granted a conservatorship to Britney’s father, James “Jamie” Parnell Spears. He became co-conservator along with a court-appointed lawyer, Andrew Wallet. The judge also appointed Samuel Ingham III as Britney Spears’ probate lawyer and advocate for the singer.

According to Ingham’s Linked In account, he is a trained mediator in Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of California School of Law in 1975 and specialized in “Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law.” He also worked on the estate of radio personality Casey Kasem and media billionaire Sumner Redstone.

Although the law in California states that a conservatee has five days’ notice before a conservatorship goes into effect, Britney did not get this courtesy. The judge could ignore the policy if the conservatee is in “immediate and substantial harm.”

Judge Goetz granted the petition to waive Britney’s rights, so they did not have to inform her what was happening. Ingham remained Britney Spears’ legal advocate and lawyer from 2008 to 2021. According to TMZ, Britney’s lawyer plans to resign as early as July 6, 2021. He cited the pop icon’s court testimony on June 23 as one reason he plans to step down as her attorney.

How much does Britney Spears’ lawyer, Sam Ingham III, make?

Although Britney Spears’ lawyer is court-appointed, she still pays him a hefty salary. According to The New Yorker, Sam Ingham III, makes an annual salary of $520,000 as her probate attorney. However, he still did not file a petition to end Spears’ conservatorship. The pop icon begged him to file in the days following her testimony on June 23.

Spears’ attorney, Sam Ingham III, makes more than her weekly allowance

Although Britney Spears made fortunes throughout the 13-year conservatorship, she only sees $2,000 weekly. In court records obtained by the New York Times, the pop icon receives a weekly allowance of $2,000 no matter how much money she earned. Although Britney Spears’ net worth is nearly $60 million, she does not have a say in what happens to the money. According to the same article, Sam Ingham’s net worth could be nearly $3 million — the amount he has made since working as Britney Spears’ lawyer since 2008. Spears’ lawyer reportedly has other clients, so the amount could be higher. However, there are not currently public records reporting Ingham’s net worth in 2021.
