Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Got an Apology from Octavia Spencer
Britney Spears has received no shortage of attention in the media as of late. Between the many documentaries released about her life, her battle with her conservatorship, and people examining how poorly the media treated her through her career, she’s been a “hot topic” this year. However, she recently made headlines after she announced her engagement to her fiancé, Sam Asghari, via Instagram.

Spears and Asghari have been dating since 2016. After Asghari portrayed the love interest in the music video for her song “Slumber Party” the pair hit it off and started getting to know each other. Throughout the years, the pair hasn’t been shy about showing their love and support for one another. In fact, Spears insinuated that she would like to have more children with her now-fiancé in a statement she made during one of her conservatorship hearings.

Recently, Spears and Asghari took to their respective Instagram pages to announce their engagement. In the photos, Spears can be seen showing off her large 4-carat engagement ring made especially for her. Spears could hardly contain her excitement at the news. “It was definitely worth the wait…yes world…that beautiful f—— man in that picture is MINE!!!” she wrote. “I’m so blessed it’s insane.”
Naturally, Asghari and Spears received a ton of well-wishes for their engagement. However, some people felt it prudent to offer Spears some practical advice. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Spears is worth a whopping $70 million, so loads of people encouraged her to make Asghari sign a prenup before officially tying the knot. One such person was Octavia Spencer. “Make him sign a prenup,” the Ma actor wrote after she learned of Spears’ engagement.

It seems that the copious comments about a prenup reached Asghari and he addressed them in a joking way. “Thank you to everyone who is concerned about the prenup,” Spears fiancé penned. “Of course, we’re getting ironclad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.” Though Asghari and Spears seemed to take the comments in stride, Spencer recently jumped on Instagram to issue the couple an apology.

“Y’all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke,” Spencer captioned a photo of Spears and Asghari. “My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain. I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of. Britney’s fans have seen her through a lot of pain and she’s found happiness. We’re thrilled for her. So let’s show them love.”
Asghari tells Spencer there are no hard feelings
While Spears’ Instagram is currently deactivated (she’s taking time off from social media and celebrating her engagement), Asghari was quick to let Spencer know that her apology was accepted. “You are very kind to clarify but I have no hard feelings whatsoever,” he commented on Spencer’s post. “Jokes and misconceptions come with the territory.” Clearly, the happy couple didn’t take offense to Spencer’s remarks. We’re sure fans wish them a happy and healthy life together.
