Since getting out of prison 10 months ago, Kerok, 26, has been taking steps to turn his life around. The HVAC technician found a new job in Houston, where he’s hoping to get a fresh start with Britney. But there’s a hitch. Britney, who also spent time behind bars, hasn’t received approval to move out of state, in part because she still owes thousands of dollars in restitution. But that didn’t stop the couple from packing their bags and moving into a new apartment in Texas, even though Britney would have to head back to Virginia in just a few weeks.

In the Life After Lockup finale, the pair discuss what’s next after Britney returns home. Kerok has been unfaithful in the past. Soon after they first started dating, he cheated with another woman, and he and Britney broke up. They eventually reconciled, but Britney is concerned he’ll stray again.

“I’m putting the app on your phone and I’m putting the app on my phone,” she says. “It’s a security blanket.”

“It is what it is,” Kerok replies.

Kerok is the ‘sole provider’ in the relationship

While Kerok has a new career post-prison, Britney hasn’t yet found a job. And she’s made it clear she’s not eager to rejoin the workforce. For now, she’s comfortable letting Kerok support them both, though she knows that’s a risk.

“The thing that worries me most is just the means of making it work,” she tells a producer. “He’s the sole provider for us.”

Will financial stress plus a long-distance relationship drive Kerok and Britney apart? As she prepares to leave Kerok in Houston, Britney admits she’s anxious about the future.

“I’m very worried about, you know, possibly getting back into a declined mental health,” she adds. “Hopefully, we won’t be arguing due to a lack of being together.”
