Photographers captured Springsteen, White, and director Scott Cooper on set in Bayonne on Nov. 4. At one point, White, 33, who was wearing a black leather jacket and jeans, embraced a smiling Springsteen, 75, who donned a plaid jacket, scarf, and sunglasses. The Emmy winner will portray the iconic musician during his younger years, when he was recording his 1982 album Nebraska. The movie is based on Warren Zanes’ 2023 book about the making of the album.

Earlier, Springsteen gave his seal of approval to White’s casting.

“I only had to see him on The Bear, and I knew he was the right guy, because he had that interior life, but he also had a little swagger,” he told The Telegraph in a recent interview.

The “Dancing in the Dark” singer also called White a “great actor” who “sings pretty good” during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show (via People)

“It’s a lovely cast and I am involved a little,” he said, adding that Allen had a tough job ahead of him. “This is not easy to do because you can’t do an imitation, you have to do a personal interpretation,” he said.

Meanwhile, White has said that he’s been hard at work transforming himself into Springsteen.

“I’ve got a really talented group of people helping me train vocally, musically, to get ready for this thing,” The Iron Claw actor told GQ. “I’m also really lucky [that] Bruce is really supportive of the film, and so I’ve had some access to him and he’s just the greatest guy.”

“Also, there’s just so much footage,” he added. “It’s really great to go down a YouTube rabbit hole and find him at all these different periods in his life and be able to listen to his speaking voice as well as his singing voice. That’s kind of been the deal, just listening to him a lot and watching him a lot. It’s been really fun preparing.”
