Who Is Bruce Springsteen’s Daughter, Jessica Springsteen, and What Does She Do for Work?
Bruce Springsteen is an icon in the music industry. While the E Street Band frontman is one of the most recognizable faces in the business and has been a newsmaker for decades his daughter, Jessica Springsteen, recently started making headlines for her own career.
Here’s more about The Boss’ daughter and what she does for a living.
Jessica Springsteen is Patti Scialfa and Bruce’s only daughter
Jessica Rae Springsteen was born on Dec. 30, 1991. She is the only daughter of the “Born in the USA” artist and his second wife, bandmate Patti Scialfa. Jessica has two brothers Evan Springsteen and Sam Springsteen.
“We had our kids late. I was 40 when our first son was born, and they showed a healthy disinterest in our work over all the years,” Bruce stated in a 2017 interview with The New York Times.
While Jessica didn’t want to follow in her parents’ musical footsteps she credits where they raised her for what became her passion and profession.
Where Jessica grew up
Jessica spoke to Upscale Living Magazine about growing up on her family’s 300-acre farm in Colts Neck, New Jersey.
“We moved full-time to our farm. We were always surrounded by animals as kids, which was really nice,” she told the publication. “We had chickens, cows, pigs — you name it!”
Jessica developed a love for riding horses when she was a child.
“I started riding when I was about 4 or 5,” she said. “My parents always said I was competitive straight away, but I just loved to be around horses. I never wanted to miss a lesson; I was committed and took it very seriously from a young age.”
“I think the chemistry between you and your horse can vary from ride to ride. Some horses, you get on immediately with and you pick right away, and others, it can take a little bit longer and be a bit of a struggle,” the musician’s daughter explained in an interview with CNN. “But I think you have to be patient, and it has to be a mutual give and take between the horse.”
Jessica is now a professional equestrian. Her riding achievements include representing the U.S. as an alternate rider in the 2012 Summer Olympics, winning the American Gold Cup in 2014, and earning the top spot in a five-star Grand Prix jumping competition in 2016.
Jessica plans to compete in the upcoming Olympics
As a professional equestrian Jessica has traveled all over the world for competitions. In 2020, she told Upscale Living Magazine that she lives in Belgium but her home base is in Florida. She had planned to be in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic Games before they were postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“At the time, we were working towards making the shortlist for the Olympics by staying consistent with our results. I was aiming towards certain events with my horse, without overdoing it, so I could have her peaking this summer,” Jessica said, adding, “Of course, plans have changed, and we’ve had to adjust, but for us, our routine is always pretty consistent.”
