BTS Advocate for Sustainability in New Samsung Commercial
On Feb. 9, Samsung released a new commercial featuring the members of BTS. Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook‘s commercial is part of Samsung’s “Galaxy for the Planet” campaign, and in it, the band members encourage viewers to take more sustainable actions.

Samsung released the commercial featuring BTS on Feb. 9. BTS are Samsung ambassadors, and with the commercial, the septet advocates for sustainability to help the planet.
At the start of the commercial, RM holds up placards that read, “The oceans are drowning in plastic.”
Suga then appears and combs through placards reading, “Marine animals are suffering. It’s time for a change.”
Next, J-Hope holds up cards that read, “With the power of we, us, together.”
Jin’s cards then read, “our small actions can turn a ripple into a new wave.”
Jimin then holds up cards that read, “Let’s rethink the life of a product.”
Next, V’s cards read, “Recycle ocean-bound plastics, use more eco-conscious packaging.”
Jungkook walks into frame and holds up cards reading, “Repurpose old devices for new uses.”
The BTS members then stand together and hold up placards reading, “Let’s work together for a better future.”
The commercial is part of Samsung’s ‘Galaxy for the Planet’ initiative
BTS’ new commercial with Samsung was part of an extensive rollout done by the company for the “Galaxy for the Planet” action plan.
According to Samsung, the company “developed a new material that gives ocean-bound plastics new life as they’re incorporated into various Galaxy devices.”
The statement continues, “Made with repurposed ocean-bound discarded fishing nets, the use of this material marks another step in our Galaxy for the Planet journey that aims to minimize our environmental footprint and help foster more sustainable lifestyles for the Galaxy community. Now and into the future, Samsung will incorporate repurposed ocean-bound plastics throughout our entire product lineup…”
Some BTS fans think the commercial could air during the Super Bowl
When Samsung first teased that BTS were part of a new announcement with the company, some fans of BTS speculated that Samsung could drop a Super Bowl commercial with the band.
“Calling it now. Samsung Super Bowl ad with snippet of new track,” one fan guessed on Reddit.
After the commercial dropped on Feb. 9, some fans of the band are hopeful that the commercial will receive airtime during the 2022 Super Bowl broadcast on Feb. 13.
“… all the super bowl ads typically get released early in this day in age so I believe the one we saw is the one that will air,” one Reddit user wrote.
“I’m so excited about this!!! This is probably the most expensive and sought after ad space and my man Yoongi just casually has an ad with his production highlighted. Not to mention the boys themselves,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
“ahh so exciting! I was really thinking that the whole samsung release was just in time for the Super Bowl is no coincidence,” wrote a Reddit user.
