BTS Explaining the ‘ON’ Music Video Is the Best Thing You Will Watch All Day
“ON” is the lead single of BTS’s newest album Map of the Soul: 7. There were two music video releases for the song, BTS ‘ON’ Kinetic Manifesto Film : Come Prima and a cinematic music video. Recently, Big Hit Entertainment released a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the “ON” music video with a new BTS Episode on the BANGTANTV YouTube channel.
Jungkook created an entire backstory for his character
As with any BTS content, ARMY created a bunch of theories after the music video was released. In the BTS Episode, Jungkook revealed his own theory for his character.
“I was doing well within the wall, but I had this special power,” he said. “And people saw and said ‘he’s the devil’ and locked me up then cast me out of the wall.”
The next scene showed, J-Hope shooting his scene of the music video with Jungkook lying in the grass in the background. The scene with J-Hope’s verse was a standout for fans, and inspired several memes about J-Hope’s character ignoring Jungkook’s character in the grass.
As J-Hope records his verse, the camera shows Jungkook smiling up at him with the caption “Jungkook is lying down in the back, acting.” Adding even more humor to the scene, J-Hope said, “I’m trying a grunge look.”
BTS’s quotes remain iconic
While BTS are professional singers, rappers, dancers, and producers, they are also comedians, even when they are not trying to be. As Jimin explained his role in the music video, he said “I don’t know what this music video is about either. I saw the storyboard and everything.”
When RM filmed his scene, his eyes looked over to the alpacas nearby and said “They could be Jin’s family.” Fans of BTS immediately recognized RM’s reference to RJ, the BT21 character Jin designed.
Suga was visibly cold as he filmed his scene. After being wrapped up in warmer clothes, he looked at the camera and said “I only brought light clothes to L.A. and now I’m suffering.”
Jin and V showed off their acting
Give us more of Actor Jin, please. The “ON” music video showcased Jin’s skill as an actor. The BTS Episode opened with Jin explaining his scene alongside shots of him acting, demonstrating his ability to switch in and out of character. At the end of the music video shoot, BTS thanked the dancers who helped with the dance break.
“He’s acting like he can’t hear us but he is smiling,” Jin said with a laugh.
V previously acted in the TV series Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. Most recently, V’s song “Sweet Night” appeared in the OST for the show Itaewon Class.
The singer took on a serious role in the music video, but the BTS Episode showed him having fun behind-the-scenes with his scene partner, Leena, a young girl. The BTS Episode showed V and Leena dancing around together during breaks, and even when the music video was not shooting V held onto her hand.
“Today is the third day of ‘ON’ Cinema shooting,” V said. “I’m shooting with my little sister, Leena.”
