BTS: Inside Jin and Jungkook’s Complex Relationship
These K-pop idols may be a few years apart, but age never stands in the way of friendship. They’ve spent over 7 years together with BTS and, according to a body language expert, they’re considerably close. Learn more about these two award-winning singers from BTS, Jungkook and Jin, here.
‘Worldwide Handsome,’ Jin, is the oldest member of BTS
There are seven members in this K-pop group. There’s the rappers, J-Hope, RM, and Suga and there are singers like Jungkook, V, and Jimin. The oldest member of BTS, however, is Kim Seokjin, also known as his stage name Jin. This performer was born on December 4, 1992, making him 27-years-old as of 2020.
He earned the nickname of “Worldwide Handsome” from fans because of his killer visuals, but Jin is much more than that. He’s often a “joker guy,” but he also loves to live stream with fans in his series, “Eat Jin.” This member is also extremely caring towards the younger members, earning the title of the “mom” of BTS.
“I hope that the team always gets along and everyone is happy,” Jin said of what he wishes for the future, during one interview with Paper Magazine.
Jungkook is the youngest member of BTS, nicknamed the ‘Golden Maknae’
Another member of the vocal line, Jungkook is the youngest performer of this K-pop group, being born on September 1, 1997. Although he may be young, he earned the nickname “the Golden Maknae” for being so talented. He can sing, he can dance, and he’s also a good friend to the other members of the boy band.
That includes the oldest member of the group, Jin. Together, they perform songs like “On,” “Boy With Luv,” and “Black Swan,” even commenting in interviews about their friendship and relationship with one another.
Jungkook and Jin are clearly really close friends
Whether they’re teaming up for a challenge on “Run BTS” or just posting pictures together on Twitter, age proves to be no problem when it comes to this dynamic duo.
Some attribute that to the way the two physically interact with each other. For one picture, Jungkook is seen hanging onto Jin’s back, looking closely at his face. The two performers are smiling.
“It looks to me like [Jungkook’s] checking for Jin’s reaction,” body language expert Traci Brown said, according to Elite Daily. “Pulling someone in like that from behind can be a sign of control. He may be playing the protector here.”
The two even perform together with the other members of the vocal line. Most recently, that includes “00:00 (Zero O’Clock)” off of Map of the Soul: 7. These two have yet to form a “sub-unit,” as Jimin and V did for “Friends,” although fans expect more music from them and BTS in the future.
