BTS: Jin Realized ‘Why People Like BTS’ After Watching the Band’s 2022 Grammy Awards Performance
At the 2022 Grammy Awards, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS performed their hit song “Butter.” Because he is currently recovering from surgery, Jin sat out from some of the choreography during BTS’ Grammy performance. In a VLIVE after the 2022 Grammy Awards, Jin shared that he realized “why people like BTS” after he had the opportunity to watch Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook perform.
Jin of BTS is currently recovering from surgery
On March 19, Big Hit Music published a Weverse announcement letting BTS fans know that Jin had surgery after injuring his finger.
“The surgery went well according to the doctors. Jin was discharged from the hospital on the morning of Saturday, March 19 and has been resting. He will wear a cast for the time being for stabilization and a speedy recovery,” Big Hit Music wrote.
At the 2022 Grammy Awards, Jin was still in a cast. For this reason, he did not perform the full choreography for BTS’ “Butter” stage at the Grammy Awards.
BTS’ “Butter” performance incorporated a spy theme. For the performance, Jin sat at a control panel and then danced with Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook at the end of the song.
Jin appreciated being able to watch BTS perform
Immediately following the 2022 Grammy Awards, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook held a VLIVE livestream to discuss the award show with fans.
In the VLIVE, Jin shared what it was like to watch BTS perform from the control panel where he was sitting.
“It was the first time for me to see the members dance like that on stage… but when I saw you do the dance break on stage, I could understand why people like BTS,” Jin said in the VLIVE according to an English translation.
Jungkook shared, “This is what he said. ‘Hey Jungkook, it’s relaxing to not dance on stage.’”
“It’s true that it was relaxing but you were all so amazing,” Jin said.
V then complimented Jin for performing so soon after his surgery.
“You came on stage even though you were in pain. You said you wanted to join us on stage,” V told Jin.
The members of BTS were ‘nervous’ for their Grammy Awards performance
In the VLIVE, the members of BTS also shared that they felt “nervous” about performing at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Their performance of “Butter” marked the first time they performed a solo stage at the Grammy Awards in person.
“But we tried a lot of different things at the Grammys and practiced for a long time,” J-Hope shared.
“We were really nervous too,” V added.
J-Hope agreed, saying, “Everything was live. So we were even more nervous.”
