BTS’ Jin Is Thinking About Going on a Variety Show for Fun — ‘Filming Those Shows Might Put Me in a Happy Mood’
The BTS members keep busy outside of their work with the K-pop group. Suga composed the 7FATES: CHAKHO soundtrack. J-Hope partnered with Becky G for “Chicken Noodle Soup.” Now, Jin’s thinking about going on a variety show.
BTS’ Jin attended college as an acting major
Jin is Worldwide Handsome, appearing as the lead visual for BTS. He lent his voice to “Yet To Come” and “Butter,” also appearing as a dancer and a songwriter for the K-pop group. Before he was an award-winning singer, Jin wanted to be an actor. He even mentioned it during an interview on The Late Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
According to Billboard, “Kim Seokjin was discovered on the street while in university studying acting, and was invited to audition for BigHit Entertainment.” After debuting with BTS, Jin graduated from Konkuk University with a degree in art and acting.
BTS’ Jin next project might be a variety show
Sometimes, BTS members find time to pick up hobbies or side projects — Jungkook boxes, while V plays golf and watches movies. During an interview with Weverse Magazine, Jin hinted at another adventure that would make himself happy.
“I thought about going on a variety show to make myself happy, not for the group or because of my popularity or for work, because filming those shows might put me in a happy mood,” Jin said, according to a translation. “There are some things about variety shows that are tough, of course, but it’s also a chance to laugh your head off on set all day.”
“I talked about how I felt like I was watching both the other members and ARMY at the most recent concert, right? So I want to do it to enjoy myself – I’m on stage and putting on a performance, but watching a BTS concert up-close at the same time,” he added. “I’m on a variety show, but watching that show up-close.”
With several years dedicated to his music career, Jin hasn’t starred in a K-drama. Not yet, anyway. Other K-pop idols since branched out to explore acting endeavors, including Jisoo of BLACKPINK.
That’s not to say Jin hasn’t showcased his acting skills for ARMYs. During one RUN BTS, Jin did voiceover work for Disney and Pixar movies. RUN BTS, itself, is a variety show starring the “Butter” artists.
Jin and other BTS members are currently working on solo music
Following Proof’s debut, the BTS members confirmed they’ll be focusing on solo projects, with V, RM, and Jungkook already hinting at mixtapes in the works. Jin has released solo songs on YouTube, including 2020’s “Abyss” and “Super Tuna” and its corresponding music video.
Some of Jin’s solo songs appeared on official BTS albums. Map of the Soul: 7 featured “Moon,” while Love Yourself: Answer highlighted “Epiphany.” Of course, fans can keep up with Jin on his individual Instagram account.
