BTS: Jin Understands ‘Why People Become Fans’ of the Band
On June 10, BTS released an anthology album called Proof. Following the release of the album, Weverse Magazine published interviews with Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. In his interview with Weverse Magazine, Jin shared that he understands “why people become fans” of BTS.
Jin now realizes ‘why people become fans’ of BTS
Leading up to the 2022 Grammy Awards, Jin had surgery on his finger. Because of this, he was only able to perform limited choreography at the award show.
For part of BTS’ performance of “Butter” at the 2022 Grammy Awards, Jin remained seated. In his interview with Weverse Magazine, he shared that this helped him realize something about the band.
“They looked cool. There are other cool artists, too, but that was the first time I was ever personally in a position to watch the other members perform together in person, and they looked cooler than anyone else to me,” Jin told Weverse Magazine.
He added, “I feel like now I know why people become fans. I performed in a number of songs in Las Vegas, too, but in between, I started to feel like I was watching a BTS concert, too—watching BTS, and watching ARMY.”
How Jin felt during BTS’ 2022 Grammy Awards performance
Big Hit Music announced that Jin had surgery on March 19, and the 2022 Grammy Awards took place on April 3. At that point in time, Jin was still in a cast following his surgery.
Speaking with Weverse Magazine, Jin shared that he was not really in pain at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
“By that point it had already been a while since I injured it, so it didn’t hurt too much. But they said I might reinjure it if I hit it really hard, so I was careful about any moves where I might hit it, just to be on the safe side. It didn’t really hurt too much,” Jin said.
Jin ‘sat out’ of BTS’ performance for preventative reasons
Even though Jin’s surgery was successful and he was not in much pain around the time the 2022 Grammy Awards took place, he still only participated in limited choreography during BTS’ performance as a precaution.
“Because we’re always so focused on the performance when we’re on stage, sometimes we bump into each other’s arms really hard when we turn or something. If that happened, I might have needed to get more surgery. I just sat out to prevent that from happening, not because there would have been a problem if my hand lightly came into contact with something,” Jin told Weverse Magazine. “I had to be careful because in the event that there was another problem I wouldn’t have been able to attend anything else we had planned.”
