BTS: Jungkook Explains Why He Cut His Long Hair, But the Journey’s Not Over Yet
It’s been zero days since BTS’ Jungkook last made headlines. After the K-pop group’s golden maknae displayed his phenomenal Overwatch skills following the final run of the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour, Jungkook opened up about his future mixtape and cutting his long hair, which previously caught the attention of fans worldwide. And although ARMY was initially dumbfounded by the short haircut, Jungkook’s BTS hyungs — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V — were there to support his new style.
BTS’ Jungkook shares why he cut his long hair
On Oct. 13, following BTS’ concert in Saudi Arabia, Jungkook showed off his short hairstyle, which displayed the “coconut” cut the “Euphoria” singer had prior to growing out his curly locks. Of course, given ARMY’s outpouring love for Jungkook’s long hair, fans wondered why he decided to chop off the length. And on Oct. 2, the K-pop star finally answered.
When BTS recorded their iHeartRadio Ask Anything Chat, an ARMY specifically asked Jungkook why he decided to cut his hair. And his response was simple.
“Because the hair was damaged and hard to control,” Jungkook said.
Quite frankly, the real reason why Jungkook cut his long hair is totally reasonable. So we’re more than happy to see the “Begin” crooner sport his healthy “coconut” look. However, it’s still possible Jungkook will grow out his long hair sometime in the future.
“If I have the chance, I might grow it out again,” he revealed.
BTS responds to Jungkook’s new hairstyle
Meanwhile, Jungkook’s BTS brothers also reacted to their maknae’s short hair. And for the most part, the K-pop group seemed supportive of the new look.
“It’s pretty now,” J-Hope said, pointing to Jungkook with affirmation
Jimin then echoed J-Hope’s comments. “It’s really pretty now,” he said quietly.
On the other hand, BTS leader RM noted the good and bad sides of Jungkook’s hairstyle change. “It looked damaged,” RM said. “But it was great that we got to see your long hair.”
Jin also agreed with RM’s statement. “That’s right,” he said.
And finally, after the golden maknae shared he might grow out his long hair again, V told Jungkook he is also considering a longer hairstyle.
“I’ll grow it out with you,” V grinned. The two youngest members then shared a high-five before RM moved onto the next question.
ARMY reacts to Jungkook’s haircut explanation
Naturally, BTS fans had plenty to say about Jungkook’s decision about cutting his hair. And in general, it seems most members of ARMY are perfectly fine with the singer’s choice.
“Jungkook said his hair got really damaged cause he couldn’t control somehow so he cut his long hair into shorter and he’ll grow it again if there’s another chance someday,” an ARMY tweeted. “Do whatever you wants JK.”
Meanwhile, other fans are just happy to see the boys supporting one another, no matter how small the situation.
“JUNGKOOK CUT HIS HAIR BC HE WANTED TO AND BC HE SAID HE CANT MANAGE IT WELL,” a Twitter user wrote. “AWWWW THE BOYS LOVED HIS LONG HAIR THO UWU HE ALSO SAID IF GIVEN THE CHANCE HE WILL GROW IT OUT AGAIN.”
Another user shared, “Jungkook said his hair was damaged and hard to control while long and that he’ll grow it again if he gets a chance then they all started saying he’s pretty with the haircut IM SAD.”
And of course, many fans are also excited about the possibility of long-haired V and Jungkook in the future.
“JUNGKOOK SAID HE WANTS TO GROW HIS HAIR LONGER AGAIN AND TAEHYUNG WANTS TO DO THE SAME THING,” a fan explained. “WE’RE F*CKED.”
“G-GUYS THIS AINT A DRILL LONG HAIR MULLET TAEKOOK COMING THRU,” another fan reacted.
Even if BTS fans are sad about Jungkook cutting his hair, the singer has already gone on record saying he might grow out his long locks again. And better yet, V will likely join him. But, until then, ARMY can still get hyped about Jungkook’s future mixtape and enjoy the 22-year-old’s long-hair era a bit longer. Remember, the group’s end-of-the-year content — like the 2020 Season’s Greetings package — still features Jungkook lengthy curls. So stay tuned.
