BTS: Jungkook Teased the Band’s ‘New Chapter’ at the 2021 AMAs
The 2021 American Music Awards took place on Nov. 21. BTS won all three awards they were nominated for, taking home the awards for Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group, and Favorite Pop Song for “Butter.” During BTS’ acceptance speech for Artist of the Year, Jungkook teased the band’s “new chapter” is on the horizon.
Jungkook brought up BTS’ ‘new chapter’ at the 2021 American Music Awards
Throughout the night, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook took turns speaking during each acceptance speech. The band also performed “My Universe” with Coldplay and their single “Butter” at the award show.
BTS winning Artist of the Year at the 2021 AMAs marked the septet’s first time winning the award.
“Thank you AMAs, and we’re truly honored to be on this stage with such amazing, tremendous artists right over here,” RM said in the band’s acceptance speech for Artist of the Year. “We’re so honored. Thanks for that.”
Toward the end of the speech, Jungkook jumped in and hinted the band has exciting future plans.
“We just wanted to make people happy with our music,” Jungkook said. “We believe that this award opens the beginning of our new chapter.”
After pausing and smiling at the members, Jungkook continued, “In the past few years we learned that each and every moment is precious. So in 2022, we wanted… we want to focus on, we want to focus on…”
Before Jungkook could finish his statement, Jin pulled him away from the microphone in a hug.
The members of BTS are working on a new album
While Jungkook’s speech left anticipation hanging in the air, ARMY already know that the band is in the process of making a new album. Because of this, a new BTS era could begin quite soon.
In season 2 episode 4 of the TV show In the SOOP BTS Ver., the members of BTS revealed they are working on new music. During the episode, Jungkook and Suga made a song together.
“It’s my first time writing something in nature,” Jungkook told Suga.
“It’s great. You can get so inspired here. I wrote so much on In the SOOP,” Suga replied.
While Jungkook recorded the song, RM and Suga sat down together and discussed the band’s future music plans. As they talked, their audio was muted so fans could not hear specifics about the album.
“But we don’t have many performance songs,” Suga said when the audio returned to normal. “I think we need some more… We haven’t had many exciting songs since ‘IDOL.'”
BTS are currently performing in-person concerts
Before beginning a new era, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS are putting on four in-person concerts in Los Angeles.
Known as Permission to Dance On Stage – LA, the concerts will take place at SoFi Stadium on Nov. 27, Nov. 28, Dec. 1, and Dec. 2. A livestream of the Dec. 2 concert will be held on VenewLive.
