Jungkook sported blue hair and ARMY-inspired tattoos. Do any of the BTS members paint their nails? Here’s what we know about the members of this award-winning K-pop group, and what inspired J-Hope’s nail designs for one music video.

Do the BTS members wear nail polish?

They’re Grammy-nominated artists, known for breaking records with their albums like Map of the Soul: 7. They’re also activists, who partnered with UNICEF for the “Love Myself” Campaign. BTS is considered one of the biggest boy bands in the world.

Both with their fashion and their music, the BTS members aren’t hung up on traditional gender norms. Some of the BTS members wear nail polish for performances, including the rapper, J-Hope.

While working on the “Chicken Noodle Soup” music video with Becky G, J-Hope posted a picture showing off his nails, which had small characters on them. For the “Outro: Ego” music video, J-Hope sported nails that spelled out “EGO.” In celebration of the song and in support of this member, some fans did their nails in the same fashion. 

“I feel like it’s the really beautiful mixture of masculinity and femininity that they’re so unabashedly known for,” Melanie Fontana, who co-wrote BTS’ “Boy With Luv,” said during an interview with Refinery29. 

“They’re not afraid to use what some people would call more feminine-sounding melodies because they make it their own,” she continued. “I think that that’s what’s so sexy about them. They go for almost ethereal melodies that you wouldn’t necessarily write for a male boy band.”

Only some of the BTS members have pierced ears and tattoos

Although J-Hope often sports different nail colors and designs, this rapper is the only BTS member who doesn’t have pierced ears. Jungkook, the youngest member of the group, has tattoos on his hand, inspired by the BTS ARMY and its members. The BTS members also sport different hairstyles.

The BTS members are known for their fashion

Each of the BTS members sported different hair colors. For RM, that includes silver and blue hair. Jimin, that included pink, blonde, and black hair. Aside from their nails, hair, and accessories, the BTS members are known for showcasing their unique styles through fashion. 

“Fashion sort of draws you as a person,” Jungkook said during an interview with Paste Magazine. “You can make yourself different and unique by wearing this and that. That is exactly why BTS come back with new, different fashion with unique concepts.”

The “Life Goes On” music video by BTS is now available for streaming on YouTube. The K-pop group’s deluxe album, titled Be, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
