BTS is one of the biggest groups in the world with countless fans on every continent. It’s no secret that BTS’s celebrity status often makes it difficult for them to go anywhere without attracting attention. However, BTS once managed to accomplish this feat in New York City, where they went to a very busy place and stayed completely under the radar.

How BTS once filmed at a busy location in New York City without anyone knowing

In early 2020, BTS appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they went to two hotspots in New York City: Grand Central Terminal and a popular deli called Katz’s Delicatessen.

According to Billboard, the group filmed at Grand Central Terminal at 2 a.m., which was after operating hours. However, they stopped by Katz’s Delicatessen during normal business hours, which required some careful planning to make sure BTS could film in peace.

“Yeah, we made it work,” Katz’s owner, Jake Dell, said. “That was half the fun. We did it a bit strategically so it wasn’t as chaotic as it can be — it wasn’t a Sunday or Saturday lunch.”

As for how he and the staff were able to keep BTS’s visit a secret, Dell revealed, “We keep everything a secret here — we keep a pastrami recipe secret for 132 years. I think we can keep a visit secret!”

BTS has some tricks for going outside without getting attention

In everyday life, BTS also has their own tricks for going outside undetected.

For example, in a 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly, BTS revealed that they try to not go outside together as a full unit. RM said, “I mean, look at us. Seven boys with dyed hair! It’s really too much.”

Additionally, if they want to see a movie at a theater, the members often catches either the earliest or latest showing to make sure there are less people around.

And thanks to the internet, BTS can still get a lot done from the comfort of their home, such as online shopping.

While a lot of people wish they could be famous, Suga is actually “jealous” of everyday people who can go outside without worrying about what kind of attention they will attract.

“I’m really jealous of people who can go out to eat, travel, go to the movies with friends, and things like that,” Suga said in an episode of BTS’s 2020 docu-series, Break the Silence, according to Koreaboo. “Those things are really special to me because I find them hard to do.”

He continued, “It’s not easy, so those things feel really special to me. I envy others because of this. You gain as much as you lose, and vice versa. It’s a loss of the ordinary. That’s been the biggest change. What’s ordinary to others is special to me, whereas what’s special to others is very ordinary to me.”
