BTS Are Releasing a New Edition of Their Album ‘BE’ — Here’s What To Know About ‘BE (Essential Edition)’
BTS released their album BE (Deluxe Edition) on Nov. 20, 2020. Following its release, BE debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. “Life Goes On,” the lead single from the BTS album, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming BTS’ third No. 1 hit.
After releasing BE (Deluxe Edition), the Korean band plans to release BE (Essential Edition). The new version will be released on Feb. 19 and will express BTS’ appreciation for their fans, ARMY.
BTS released ‘BE’ in 2020
Just a few months after completing their Map of the Soul era with Map of the Soul: 7, BTS released BE (Deluxe Edition). The album features eight tracks: “Life Goes On,” “Fly To My Room,” “Blue & Grey,” “Skit,” “Telepathy,” “Dis-ease,” “Stay,” and “Dynamite.”
Two of the tracks are sub-unit songs. “Fly To My Room” features V, Suga, J-Hope, and Jimin. “Stay” is performed by Jin, RM, and Jungkook. “Telepathy,” “Dis-ease,” “Dynamite,” “Life Goes On,” and “Blue & Grey” feature all seven members. “Skit” is a recording of BTS’ reaction when the members found out “Dynamite” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Life Goes On” is the album’s lead single. An alternative hip-hop track, the song details BTS’ feelings about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and provides comforting words for fans.
A music video for “Life Goes On” was released on Nov. 20 along with the album. In the music video, the members spend time together in their dorm and go on drives together as a way to pass the time. At the end of the music video, the BTS members perform “Life Goes On” in an empty arena.
BTS will release ‘BE (Essential Edition)’
On Jan. 24, it was announced that the K-pop group plans to release another version of BE. The new edition will be released on Feb. 19, and it will include the same eight tracks as BE (Deluxe Edition). However, the new version will feature different elements as a way for BTS to express their gratitude for ARMY.
According to a press release, “Several components of the album will be different from the previous record, and BTS’ surprise gifts for fans will be unveiled one by one before the album’s release…”
The band was nominated for a Grammy Award for ‘Dynamite’
Just days after releasing BE (Deluxe Edition), the K-pop group secured a historic achievement with a Grammy Award nomination on Nov. 24, 2020. The band was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards for the song “Dynamite.”
BTS released “Dynamite” on Aug. 21, 2020, and the disco-pop track was their first song to be sung entirely in English. The song broke numerous records and became BTS’ first No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100.
BE (Essential Edition) will honor fans who were present with BTS for big milestones such as their first Grammy nomination. The 2021 Grammy Awards will air on March 14, 2021.
