BTS: RM Dyes His Hair Pink After Saying He Would Not Have Pink Hair Again
The members of BTS are preparing for a new comeback and plan to release their single “Butter” on May 21. Leading up to the release of the song, Big Hit Music has shared multiple teasers for BTS’ new single. On May 6, exclusive photos were shared on Weverse for members of BTS’ fanclub, and in the photos, RM sported pink hair.
The same day, the BTS rapper also uploaded photos of his pink hair to BTS’ Twitter account. While ARMY was thrilled at RM’s new hairstyle, fans also remembered that he once said he would not dye his hair pink again.
RM of BTS said he would not have pink hair again
BTS released their first English-language single “Dynamite” in August 2020. On Sept. 5, 2020, the band appeared on iHeartRadio’s Ask Anything Chat to promote the song. During the video segment, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook answered fan-submitted questions.
One fan told RM to bring back his pink hair, and the BTS rapper declined.
“Oh, I don’t, I don’t do pink,” he said.
RM explained that after having pink hair on the variety show Weekly Idol years ago, he decided to never have the hair color again.
“Nah, I won’t do it again,” he said.
BTS fans reacted to RM dyeing his hair pink
On May 6, BTS fans with a Global Official Fanclub ARMY Membership were treated to a special surprise. For ARMY with a fanclub membership, exclusive promotional photos for “Butter” were posted on Weverse. In the “Butter” photos, RM showed off pink hair, proving that he did end up deciding to dye his hair pink after all.
If the exclusive “Butter” photoshoot was not enough, RM also uploaded photos of himself with his dog on Twitter. In the Twitter photos, RM’s pink hair is clearly visible.
After the news of RM’s pink hair broke online, “ALL MEN DO IS LIE” trended on Twitter as BTS fans remembered RM’s Ask Anything Chat comment.
One Reddit user wrote, “not namjoon literally saying he was traumatized by weekly idol and he wouldn’t dye his hair pink again only to do that exact thing not 6 months later.. all men do is lie.”
“This is one of the very rare instances I’m happy a man has lied to me! Joon is so pretty in pink,” a fan wrote on Reddit.
