BTS’ RM Is Inviting ‘Interesting and Unexpected’ Artists To Appear in His Solo Album
In between writing, recording, and performing with BTS, RM finds time to write solo music. This rapper confirmed that a new album is in the works, complete with “interesting and unexpected” artists featured on the production. Here’s what we learned from Kim Namjoon’s 2022 V Live.
RM is the leader of BTS
Some know him as the “God of Destruction,” others know him as BTS’ unofficial translator. RM is one of the rappers and dancers in BTS, also functioning as the leader of the K-pop group. He appeared on songs “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Life Goes On,” even having a large role in writing and producing original songs.
Like most BTS members, RM released solo tracks in conjunction with the band’s chart-topping albums. For Map of the Soul: Persona/Map of the Soul: 7, that was “Intro: Persona” — for Love Yourself: Answer that was “Trivia: Love.”
BTS’ RM confirmed that he’s working on a new solo album
After a Permission to Dance on Stage concert in Las Vegas, RM took to V Live, chatting about BTS’ recent experiences at the Grammy Awards and their upcoming music-related projects. RM confirmed that his solo album is on the way.
“About the new playlist, I’m getting ready and working on it,” RM said during the YouTube video. “I’m inviting really interesting and unexpected people to my album.”
RM’s last solo mixtape was the 2018 collection mono, featuring “Seoul,” “everythingoes,” and “Forever Rain.” Each track earned millions of Spotify plays, thanks to ARMYs and RM went on to create other solo singles. However, there’s no word regarding who will appear on RM’s upcoming mixtape.
BTS’ RM appeared as as solo artist on other songs
This wouldn’t be the only time RM collaborated with other artists, as this rapper appeared as a featured artist on Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” remix. That was “Seoul Town Road,” later performed by all seven BTS members at the Grammy Awards. For Suga’s D-2, released under the stage name Agust D, RM appeared as a featured artist for the track “Strange.”
Other BTS members currently have solo projects in the works. That includes J-Hope, who explained during an interview with GQ Magazine why he’s had “some struggles recently” regarding his original music.
“I went through a slump too,” he said. “I’d reached my limit, in a way. I kept wondering how I could get through it, but in the end, I decided to start over from scratch. So yes, I’m working on something completely new, with the desire to make something that is truly and uniquely mine, as quickly as I can.”
Of course, the BTS members have been considerably busy preparing for their Proof comeback on June 10, 2022. The K-pop group’s latest release includes three new tracks, as well as the demo versions of already-released BTS songs.
