This K-pop group released a few albums since their debut. One of those BTS albums, though, resulted in a lot of tears.

Here’s what Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook had to say about the recording process for their songs.

BTS shared insights into their albums, including ‘Map of the Soul: 7’

This K-pop group released several songs that helped make them become the world’s most popular boy band. Most recently, that includes Map of the Soul: 7, the record-breaking album released during February 2020.

One of their most popular songs, “Fake Love,” is available on the album Love Yourself: Tear, one of the albums in conjunction with other albums titled Love Yourself: Answer and Love Yourself: Her, respectively.

BTS said there were a lot of tears that went into ‘Love Yourself: Tear’

BTS has been releasing and recording music for a few years prior to Map of the Soul: 7’s release. There was the Wings era, followed by Love Yourself: Her and Love Yourself: Tear. During one interview with Pitchfork, these performers elaborated more on the recording and performing process.

“Before Tear, we had Love Yourself: Wonder the video and our album, Love Yourself: Her,” Suga said. “Those were about the way your heart thumps or flutters for love, so naturally, next comes tears. The turning point. [Have to] shed some tears. So, that’s how we got the album art and concept.”

‘Love Yourself: Tear’ earned these performers some awards and recognition

These performers really got into their work, especially when it came to this album. Jungkook even shared that while he was getting his makeup done and listening to Love Yourself: Tear, he started crying while in the chair, “mid-session.”

“We do seem to be aligned with our albums,” Jimin said of their 2018 album release. “It was really hard. A lot of tears.”

“We really did cry while making this album,” Jin added. Jin appears on Love Yourself: Tear songs like “Magic Shop,” “The Truth Untold,” and “Fake Love.” The group earned some awards for this album, including the Mnet Asian Music Award for Album of the Year and the Seoul Music Awards Record of the Year.

According to Forbes, “in the first six days of the pre-order period, Love Yourself: Tear sold a record 1.44 million copies in South Korea.” BTS performed one song off of this album, “Fake Love,” at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, performing “Boy With Luv” a year later.

The “Dynamite” music video is now available on YouTube. Music by BTS, including their recently released album, Map of the Soul: 7, is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major platforms.
