BTS Show Their Goofy Side With the Music Video for ‘Butter (Hotter Remix)’
BTS released their new single “Butter” on May 21. A few days after the English-language track dropped, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook released a remix of the song called “Butter (Hotter Remix).” Subverting fans’ expectations of the song, the music video showed the members of BTS displaying their goofy personalities.
Why BTS released ‘Butter (Hotter Remix)’
Big Hit Music shared new teaser photos of the BTS members advertising “Butter (Hotter Remix)” on May 27. In the teaser images, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook posed wearing suits from the original “Butter” music video.
On Weverse, Big Hit Music posted an announcement for ARMY that explained the concept of the new remix, writing:
“Hello.
This is BIGHIT MUSIC.
We would like to express our appreciation to all ARMY for the incredible love and support you have shown for ‘Butter’, the new digital single by BTS. To provide all fans with even more diverse ways to enjoy the music of BTS, we have prepared a remix version of ‘Butter’.
‘Butter (Hotter Remix)’ will exude a feel that’s delightfully different from the original song’s bright and lively mood.
We hope ‘Butter (Hotter Remix’) and its new take on the inimitable charm of BTS will fill your entire day with sizzling energy.”
The BTS members act carefree in the ‘Butter (Hotter Remix)’ music video
“Butter (Hotter Remix)” dropped on May 28 at midnight EDT and 1 p.m. KST. In addition to sharing a digital single of the remix, BTS also released a music video.
The original version of “Butter” features relaxed choreography and a seductive dance break. With the new version of “Butter” being called a “Hotter Remix,” one might assume that the remix’s music video would show BTS turning up their sex appeal.
Instead, the “Butter (Hotter Remix)” music video shows the BTS members goofing around and laughing with one another while dressed in dazzling suits.
In the new music video, one BTS member sings a line or a verse of “Butter” to the camera as the six other members are chaotic in the background. They jump over chairs, twirl around, and laugh together. A few times during the video, the members line up together to dance or sing aggressively to the song.
What ARMY thinks of the new remix
After BTS released “Butter (Hotter Remix),” fans discussed the remix and the music video on social media. The reaction to the remix’s music video is overwhelmingly positive, as ARMY cannot get enough of chaotic BTS.
One Reddit user wrote, “LOOL This almost feels like BTS pranking us. I’m laughing so hard… I’m a big fan of the way the guys seem nowadays. They look confident and confortable. This reminds me of those chaotic videos they used to post. Wow, have I missed things like this!”
