Why BTS Featured Sia and Halsey on Their Recently Released Album, ‘Map of the Soul: 7’
Looks like BTS won’t be the only artists singing on Map of the Soul: 7. When this K-pop group announced their tracklist, there were a few familiar names featured on the album. Who is featured on BTS’ upcoming album, Map of the Soul: 7? Here’s why some fans think BTS collaborated with these award-winning artists.
BTS’ collaborated with other artists for songs off of the ‘BTS World’ soundtrack and ‘Map of the Soul: Persona’
In the seven years since their debut, this K-pop group became one of the most popular boy bands in the world. They performed alongside artists like Charli XCX, Juice WRLD, Lauv, and Nicki Minaj. One of their most popular songs to date, “Boy With Luv,” featured the United States-based artist, Halsey.
“We really were big fans of Halsey since ‘Closer’ with Chainsmokers, and we heard that it was the first time for her to have official choreography for [a] music video, but she practiced really hard and we’re grateful for that,” RM said during an interview with Rolling Stone. “In addition, she actually wrote the introduction for our Time’s “100 Most Influential People” [entry]. We were so moved and touched by our friend’s words. I love you, Halsey.”
Sia is featured on BTS’ upcoming album, ‘Map of the Soul: 7’
While the BTS members each have a hand in writing their own music, a few other artists appear on their upcoming album. Troye Sivan even helped write a song for this upcoming album, tweeting about it a few weeks prior to Map of the Soul: 7’s premiere.
This is not the first time the boys collaborated with popular artists, as Ed Sheeran co-wrote the song off of Map of the Soul: Persona, “Make It Right.” Now, the group is taking the next step towards collaborating with popular western singers. For Map of the Soul: 7, BTS performs alongside Sia for their song “On.”
Why do fans think BTS and Sia collaborated?
Map of the Soul: 7 contains 20 songs, a mix of already released hits and new songs. One of the artists featured on this album is the Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, Sia, who performs on the song “On.” According to the BTS Twitter account, however, this song will only be available digitally, and some suspect it to be similar to the version of “Idol” with Nicki Minaj, released by this boy band a few years prior.
Still, some fans shared their support (and their excitement) on social media. One Twitter user said, “until today I did not know how great the BTS fanbase actually is. They spread so much love to Sia and us lovers. We love you, keep going.”
“We are happy a musical legend like Sia is working with our boys! Also thank you for being so receptive with this collaboration! Other western fans are so despective towards our boys and us but you are so different,” another Twitter user wrote. Map of the Soul: 7 premieres on Feb. 21, 2020.
Music by BTS, including their most recently-released album Map of the Soul: Persona, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
