BTS: The Special Reason V Wants to Perform ‘Mikrokosmos’ When Concerts Return
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, in-person concerts have been indefinitely put on hold. In 2020, BTS put on two virtual concerts, “Bang Bang Con The Live” and “Map of the Soul ON:E.” On March 24, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS appeared on the talk show You Quiz on the Block.
The band was interviewed by Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho. During the interview, V revealed he can’t wait to perform “Mikrokosmos” for BTS fans.
V wants to perform ‘Mikrokosmos’ for BTS fans
During their appearance on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, the BTS members talked about how things have changed without in-person concerts.
“Without concerts, it’s like we lost a big frame that holds us up. We’ve come all the way telling ourselves we’re not special and must stay humble. When on stage I performed as if consuming my life. Now without those moments I don’t feel so confident, but I’m processing it,” RM said according to K-pop Herald.
V then shared that he hopes to perform “Mikrokosmos” again for BTS fans.
“It’s been almost a year and half since we saw ARMYs face to face. When the pandemic is over, the first thing I want to do is go on stage for ARMYs, and after all that, sing ‘Mirokosmos’ again!” V said.
BTS released ‘Mikrokosmos’ in 2019
“Mikrokosmos” was included on BTS’ 2019 EP Map of the Soul: Persona. The song quickly became a classic in BTS’ discography. During their 2019 tour BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself, “Mikrokosmos” served as the last song performed each night.
With the song, the members of BTS encourage fans to embrace who they are and realize they are special.
“Perhaps the reason this night looks so beautiful / Is not because of these stars or lights, but us / You got me / I dream while looking at you / I got you / Inside those pitch black nights / The lights we saw in each other / Were saying the same thing / Starlight that shines brighter in the darkest night,” the members sing according to Genius lyrics.
During the Speak Yourself tour, “Mikrokosmos” always came after BTS’ ending ments, making it an emotional song. Even with the sadness attached to “Mikrokosmos” due to it being the last song in the Speak Yourself set, at its heart “Mikrokosmos” is a love song from BTS to ARMY.
The band has performed ‘Mikrokosmos’ multiple times
In addition to performing “Mikrokosmos” during the Speak Yourself tour, the members of BTS performed the song during the 2019-2020 awards show season to celebrate Map of the Soul: Persona. Even after BTS released their next album Map of the Soul: 7 at the beginning of 2020, the band continued to perform “Mikrokosmos.”
In June 2020, the K-pop group performed “Mikrokosmos” for YouTube’s Dear Class of 2020 special. BTS’ last recorded performance of “Mikrokosmos” took place in October 2020 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
