BTS won Top Social Artist

The K-pop group first won Top Social Artist at the 2017 BBMAs, and BTS have continued to win the award every year since. To win the fan-voted award this year, the band beat out Billie Eilish, EXO, GOT7, and Ariana Grande.

“Thank you ARMY for giving us this award four years in a row,” J-Hope said in the group’s acceptance speech.

“We think that this award is the living proof that no matter where we are, the ARMY and BTS stay so closely connected as always,” RM said.

Suga added, “It’s a celebration of our special connection.”

V continued, “Big thanks to you again, ARMY, and Billboard Music Awards.”

The group performed their single ‘Dynamite’

BTS released “Dynamite” on Aug. 21, and the song is their first English-language single. So far, the group has accomplished a great deal with the song. The song’s music video set YouTube records, including the record for the most-viewed video within its first 24 hours. “Dynamite” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained at No. 1 in its second week. After falling to No. 2, the single re-peaked at No. 1 in its fifth week.

For the 2020 BBMAs, BTS chose to perform “Dynamite.” The group filmed the performance at the Incheon International Airport decked out in red suits. Ever since the band released “Dynamite,” every performance of the song has been different. For the BBMAs, BTS performed the song alongside a virtual band, adding a creative touch.

What is next for BTS?

On Oct. 2, BTS released a remix of “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo. The remix primarily features members Jungkook, Suga, and J-Hope, and Billboard announced on Oct. 12 that it ranked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Dynamite” ranked at No. 2 that week on the chart.

With the “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” remix and “Dynamite,” Billboard reported that BTS became the first group “to double up in the top two simultaneously since The Black Eyed Peas did so for four weeks in June-July 2009 with ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling.'”

Now, the band is the first group in over a decade to occupy the top two spots of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously. After winning the Top Social Artist award at the BBMAs for the fourth year, one might wonder what is next for the band.

On Nov. 20, BTS will release their next album, BE (Deluxe Edition). A press release from Big Hit Entertainment says the album has “a message of healing to the world by declaring, ‘Even in the face of this new normality, our life goes on.'”
