BTS just announced their 2020 Map of the Soul Tour and the anticipation for it is overwhelming. Tickets have not even gone on sale yet and the demand already seems to be at an all-time high. To help make sure tickets end up in the hands of fans, BTS fans with an official fanclub membership are given priority when purchasing tickets for the tour.

Big Hit Entertainment introduced a new ticketing system in 2019

In June 2019, Big Hit Entertainment introduced a new ticketing system for BTS’s 5th Muster. The company implemented the new policy again for BTS’s Love Yourself: Speak Yourself [The Final] in Seoul and BTS’s concert in Saudi Arabia.

For domestic concerts in South Korea, fanclub members were able to enter a raffle. If selected, they could then claim a random floor or first level seat. After the raffle, fanclub members participated in an Early Reservation period to claim any remaining seats in the venue.

For the BTS concert in Saudi Arabia, only one section on the floor was part of the raffle. Raffle winners for the Riyadh concert could reserve up to four tickets and also receive access to the soundcheck package. There was no Early Reservation period, and any unclaimed raffle tickets were part of the general sale.

The lottery system helped eliminate unfair ticket purchasing circumstances like scalpers because ticket holders could not resell tickets. To enter the venue, the name on the ticket had to match the name on the ticket holder’s ID and fanclub membership card. This ensured that fans of BTS had access to the best seats at each concert before the general sale started and scalpers purchased tickets.

There is a different benefit for this upcoming BTS tour

While there is not a raffle for North American ARMY, there is a way fanclub members receive benefits for BTS’s upcoming Map of the Soul Tour. Official fanclub members are able to participate in a presale through Ticketmaster days before tickets go on sale for the general public.

For all of the dates in the U.S. and Canada, fanclub members have until Feb. 2, 2020 to register. If selected, those BTS fans will receive an email on Feb. 4 confirming their account was verified and they were selected. The BTS Global Official Fanclub ARMY Membership Presale then begins on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. local venue time. During the presale, BTS fans can select up to two tickets per tour date.

Fans can still purchase the membership

The BTS Global Official Fanclub ARMY Membership is available for purchase on Weply. Even though signup for the presale has already begun, there is still time for BTS fans to purchase the membership for the tour.

“Don’t have a BTS GLOBAL OFFICIAL FANCLUB ARMY MEMBERSHIP? You still have time to join the fanclub. If you are already a member of BTS GLOBAL OFFICIAL FANCLUB ARMY MEMBERSHIP, visit here and apply for the ARMY MEMBER PRESALE on Weply. If you are not a member yet, visit here and join today. After you join the membership and apply for the ARMY MEMBER PRESALE, come back here and click on the button that says BTS GLOBAL OFFICIAL FANCLUB ARMY MEMBERSHIP to register for the presale,” reads the announcement on Ticketmaster.

There is an option for non-fanclub members

For fans who cannot afford the fanclub membership or simply do not want to join, there is another presale option for BTS fans. With a Ticketmaster account, fans can register for the BTS Verified Fan presale. Unlike the fanclub purchase, this presale registration is free.

If selected for the Ticketmaster Verified presale, fans will receive a confirmation email on Feb. 5. The Verified Fan Presale will begin on Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. local venue time. Each fan selected will be able to purchase up to four tickets total.

BTS’s upcoming album Map of the Soul: 7 sold 3.42 million stock pre-orders Jan. 9 through Jan. 15 alone. Despite not being the album’s lead single, their newest song “Black Swan” led U.S. digital song sales after its initial release.

Given the sales for BTS’s new music, the measures Ticketmaster and Big Hit Entertainment are going through to make sure fans get tour tickets make sense. It’s clear the demand for BTS’s North American show dates are high. After the two presales, tickets go on sale for the general public on Feb. 7.
