BTS: The Tracklist for ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ Has Fans Thinking ‘UGH!’ Is a New Diss Track
On Feb. 17, Big Hit Entertainment released the tracklist for BTS’s upcoming album Map of the Soul: 7. The album will include five songs from Map of the Soul: Persona and have 15 new songs. Based on the names of songs, fans have started speculating what some of the new songs will sound like. To some, “UGH!” seems like it could be a new BTS diss track.
Some fans think it could be part of the ‘Cypher’ series
The rap line of BTS has not released a “BTS Cypher” since their 2016 album Wings. Over the years, the rap line used the four songs to address their haters and naysayers.
“BTS Cypher, Pt. 1” addressed the criticism they faced for being K-pop idols. The song’s follow-up “BTS Cypher, Pt. 2” was aimed at someone who commented that they could not be real rappers in an idol group. “BTS Cypher, Pt. 3” addressed people who hated on the members for the simplest things. “BTS Cypher 4” assured their haters that they are happy doing what they love.
Because Suga, RM, and J-Hope have not released an official “Cypher” in years, some fans are hopeful “UGH!” is an unofficial “BTS Cypher, Pt. 5.”
“I think this UGH is new cypher and ddaeng,” one fan tweeted.
“I don’t know why but I feel that ‘ugh’ is going to be a cypher rapline, I can FEEL it #7tracklist @BTS_twt,” wrote a Twitter user.
Other fans think ‘UGH!’ will be like BTS’s song ‘Ddaeng’
“Ddaeng” is perhaps one of BTS’s most underrated songs. RM, Suga, and J-Hope composed and produced the song themselves for the BTS Festa celebration in 2018. The song was released for free on Soundcloud, and details the adversity the rappers overcame by joining BTS. Because “Ddaeng” is beloved by ARMY, some fans think “UGH!” could have a similar vibe.

“UGH is DDAENG’s sister, they’d both bully u and steal ur lunch money,” wrote a Twitter user.

‘UGH!’ could be performed by all of the BTS members
While a lot of fans seem to think “UGH!” will just feature BTS’s rap line, there’s a chance it could be a true OT7 song. Perhaps “UGH!” will be like BTS’s 2017 hit “MIC Drop” or their OT7 performance of “Ddaeng” from 5th Muster.
“I have a good feeling UGH will be a cypher/ddaeng/mic drop type song and I am gonna love itttt,” a fan tweeted.
“if they do choreo for ‘ugh’ ….bruh just imagine the camera follows jungkook as he walks towards the front of the stage, then he stops, raises his sleeves AND U CAN HIS TATTOOS then the camera slowly pans up to his face and he rolls his eyes says ‘ugh’ then the beat drops,” wrote a fan on Twitter.
