BTS: V’s Dog Yeontan Might Secretly Listen to Jimin More Than His Owner
Yeontan may be V’s dog, but this pomeranian has become one of BTS’ unofficial mascots, appearing in videos alongside idols like Jimin. For one video, the “Serendipity” singer even trained the dog to give paw.
Here’s what we know about Yeontan and his adorable relationship with Jimin.
V has a dog named Yeontan, sometimes called ‘Tannie’ by BTS fans
There are seven members in BTS, not including the adorable pets of these idols. V’s dog named Yeontan, also known as “Tan” and “Tannie,” made his first cameo during a VLIVE BTS for Jin’s birthday on Dec. 4, 2017. Since then, this dog has made appearances on BTS’ social media accounts, stealing hearts along the way.
In March 2020, V shared three new adorable videos of his dog on the BTS Twitter account. One showed Tannie running alongside his owner. A second clip showed the dog hanging out in a doorway as V asked, “What are you gonna do,” according to one translation.
Jimin sometimes spends time with V’s dog Yeontan
During one video, V was trying to train Yeontan to give paw. After several failed attempts, Jimin decided to step in. He picked up a treat and got Yeontan to sit and then give paw, saying “you did so good,” according to a translation on the video.
“He’ll do it again, watch. You have to keep doing it,” Jimin said to the other BTS member, getting the dog to perform the trick a second time.
Then, V tried to pick up his dog and give him a kiss. Yeontan barked in response, sneaking away from V’s grip. As a result of Jimin’s love for Tannie, some fans nicknamed “VMIN,” V and Jimin, the “true parents of Kim Yeontan” on YouTube.
Jimin earned a nickname for his love of both dogs and cats
On several occasions, Jimin shared that he was spending time with V’s dog. “I saw Tannie today,” Jimin said in one video, according to a fan translation. “I played with Tannie for an hour and a half, and it felt as if I danced 20 times.”
V isn’t the only BTS member with a pet. RM has a dog named Rapmon, while Jin had two sugar gliders named Eomuk and Odeng. And Jimin is a friend to all animals. According to the South China Morning Post, he even earned the nickname “Gangyangee” — the Korean words for dog and cat combined together.
Music by BTS, including the Map of the Soul: Persona song “Make It Right,” is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major platforms.
