Who Is Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver Khalil Shakir’s Wife Sayler Bagnall?
After playing his college ball at Boise State University, wide receiver Khalil Shakir was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He appeared in 14 games during his rookie season. But his role expanded in 2023 and he became one of quarterback Josh Allen’s top targets.
In 2024, Shakir was the only remaining starting wideout on the Bills roster from the previous year after Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis left in free agency. Since he has been an integral part of the team’s success, fans want to know more about the athlete’s life away from the gridiron.

How Shakir and Bagnell met and when they got engaged
Shakir and Sayler (née Bagnell) are college sweethearts as they met and began dating when they both attended Boise State.
Like Shakir, Bagnell was a student-athlete as well as a member of the women’s soccer team. She studied Kinesiology and Exercise Science before receiving her bachelor’s degree in December 2022. Prior to graduating, Bagnell worked as a teacher’s assistant at Bloom Early Learning Center in Hamburg, New York. Per her LinkedIn, she also held other jobs including in San Francisco at a wedding and banquet hall.
She later served as a coach with Girls on the Run International and today is a fitness coach at Orangetheory Fitness.
Shakir proposed to Bagnell on March 29, 2022, after they had been dating for more than a year.
They had a picturesque wedding on a sprawling estate
On March 13, 2023, the pair said “I do” at the Ruby Hill Winery in Northern California.
According to Status Salon, “The sprawling estate was adorned with delicate roses, lush greenery, and twinkling lights, creating a magical ambiance. The stunning backdrop of vineyards and rolling hills added a touch of natural beauty to the already breathtaking venue.”
The new Mrs. Shakir shared pictures via social media of her special day with the caption: “We are so overwhelmed with love. Thank you to everyone who had every part in making this day so special for us.”
Shakir and his wife hosted an annual pet adoption event
Shakir and his wife are animal lovers and held their first pet adoption event in October 2024. The event which they look forward to organizing each year featured adoptable pets from eight local rescues in the Buffalo area as well as raffle tickets for Bills merchandise, game tickets, and field passes.
In 2024, the Shakirs also adopted a new canine, Missy, from Nickel City, a volunteer-driven non-profit Buffalo dog rescue that specializes in rescuing pups from high-kill shelters and bringing them to safety.
“She’s going to live her best life with her new family,” the Nickel City Canine Rescue said after the Shakirs adopted Missy. “She’s officially part of the Bills Mafia! Thank you so much to WNY’s Furtastic Adopt-a-thon, Buffalo Bills & Buffalo Sabres for making this event happen!! Sayler & Khalil are amazing, and we’re SO excited that we helped complete their family.”
